COVID-19 Updates
COVID-19 Vaccines
Are you confused about where and how to get a COVID-19 vaccination? You are not alone.

Currently, Maricopa County is in Phase 1B which includes includes adults 75 and older, however, all vaccination appointments for the month of January 2021 are booked.
New "PODs" (points of distribution) are being set up, including Phoenix Municipal Stadium and Grand Canyon University. Starting next Tuesday, January 19th at 9:00 am, you can book an appointment for a February date.

What can you do in the meantime? In order to book an appointment, you must create a Arizona Department of Health Services Patient Portal account. Go to the patient portal to create your account now to save yourself some time on Tuesday. A complete guide to creating and using the patient portal can be found here.

If you are not comfortable using technology, you may find the patient portal difficult to navigate. You may want to consider enlisting the help of a trusted friend or family member who is comfortable using a computer.

The patient portal will work best from a computer using either Chrome or Firefox. You may have difficulties if using a tablet or smart phone. If that is all you have at your disposal, use Chrome. The patient portal will not work from an Android device.
Here are some additional resources to find out more about COVID-19 vaccine distribution:

  • azhealth.gov/findvaccine: this State website has many links and information about the vaccine)
  • Safeway/Albertsons: Safeway and Albertsons pharmacies will eventually have the vaccine; you can sign up for update emails at the link. Other pharmacies may have the vaccine in the future, as well.

Police Report for December 2020

Smoke Tree Application Withdrawn
The owners of the Smoke Tree Resort have withdrawn their project application to demolish and construct a new resort on the property's 5 acre parcel on Lincoln Drive. This withdrawal came this afternoon as their deadline for submitting additional information for a January 28th Town Council consideration expired today.

The first iteration of this project received a 2019 denial recommended by the Planning Commission which outlined several project issues: including, for-sale housing and high density. These project concerns were reiterated by the Town Council in June 2019, leading to a project resubmittal by the applicant to the Town Council.

This second iteration of a proposed resort on the Smoke Tree property was redirected back to the Planning Commission by the Town Council for project review and public input. Again, the Planning Commission recommended against the project with Council's first update and review in December, 2020. A more detailed Town Council review, discussion and potential direction was scheduled for January 28, 2020. The owners of Smoke Tree Resort have indicated that they may be submitting a new application for this site in the future.
Annual Backflow Preventers Inspections
This week, Public Works conducted its annual inspection of approximately 53 backflow preventers located throughout the Town.

Inspections are conducted to ensure all equipment is working properly to protect home and public drinking water systems. Backflow preventers keep water that has already entered a facility from flowing back into the public water system.

All test reports are certified and turned into the Town water service providers by the end of January each year.

Thank you, as always, to our Public Works staff for keep Paradise Valley flowing in the right direction!
Paradise Valley Seeks Volunteers
The Town of Paradise Valley seeks residents interested in sharing their time and experience by serving on one of the Town’s volunteer committees.

The Town of Paradise Valley has a proud tradition of volunteer service. In addition to the all-volunteer Mayor, Town Council, and Municipal Court Judges, more than 50 residents donate their time to serve on various committees, commissions and boards. Volunteer opportunities include reviewing land-use applications and variances, organizing public art programs, preserving the Town’s history, promoting public safety programs and resources, and providing other vital assistance to the Town administration. A complete list of committees, their descriptions, and their past actions may be viewed here.

Applications may be completed and submitted online, or you may send a resume and cover letter to the Town Clerk's Office, 6401 E. Lincoln Drive at any time throughout the year. Committee appointments are made at the end of March with new terms beginning April 1. To be considered in the 2021 appointment cycle, please submit your application by February 4. Every applicant will be considered, and those not selected will be kept on file to provide a pool of candidates to fill vacancies which may become available during the year.

It is not necessary to list a committee preference when you apply. There will be an opportunity to meet with the Council to discuss your unique background, skills, and interests so that a mutually agreeable position can be found that meets a Town need and interests you.

Please contact the Town Clerk’s Office if you would like additional information.
