Winter is Here at Breitenbush
We've received 20 inches of snow over the last two weeks! It's lending a lot of cheer to our snowy holiday season. We celebrated the solstice with songs and ritual around a fire, and our kitchen made some delicious special meals for both the solstice and Christmas nights.

Our gatherings are much smaller this year after losing the cabins, but small gatherings also seem safer for where our world is right now. If you’d like to join us in this setting, or are already coming this winter, we’d like to share a little more about getting here safely.
Winter Driving Conditions
FS 46/Breitenbush Rd is still part of a closed region due to the fires, but guests of Breitenbush Hot Spring with a reservation are welcome to access us. Being on the road without a reservation can result in a ticket and a fine, so please just make sure you have a reservation before coming. The gate at Detroit is often closed, and sometimes locked. However, we provide an access code with a confirmed reservation, so you can get to us no matter the gate status.

We also have snow, and more coming almost daily, but we are plowing FS 46/Breitenbush Rd every morning, and sometimes afternoon if necessary. It is still slushy and there can be moments of hard packed snow, slush, or ice, but overall it is pretty clear.

We recommend having a vehicle with 4WD, or carrying chains. Per the Forest Service for our region, “You must have chains or traction tires in or on your vehicle and they must be the right size for your vehicle and of sufficient number to comply with the Minimum Chain Requirements.” For most vehicles, those 10,000 pounds and less, only front chains are required. For vehicles above 10,000 pounds, please click the link above to read more. All vehicles, even 4WD, must carry chains to be in compliance with the Forest Service. Tickets are rare, but they can happen. And it never hurts to be safer anyway!

Because we always get snow at Breitenbush and it falls on the roads around us too, we are unable to provide refunds for the weather conditions. If there is a road closure that prevents you from getting to us, we would happily provide a full refund in that case.

We want you to have a deeply relaxing experience here, and being properly prepared for the weather will help with that. Thank you for hearing us, and we look forward to seeing you for some beautiful snowy soaking and delicious food.
We are excited to continue our relationship with the DAYA Foundation and to have their support as the fiscal sponsor for Breitenbush Hot Springs. They have been instrumental in the launch of our Breitenbush Rebuilding Fundraising Campaign.

Thank You For Your Continuing Support!

Your donations have helped us in a myriad of ways! From the rebuilding of the footbridge and restoring our off-grid utilities to starting a nursery to replant trees at Breitenbush. The love and support received as donations have been critical to our survival and will continue to be as we open to our guests and continue the work of rebuilding.
Let's stay connected!
