Meet Our Board Members
Shelley McGeorge
President
Shelley McGeorge, PhD, LPCS, LMFT is currently serving as President of SCCMHCA. She has been in private practice in Columbia, SC for 35 years serving adults, families, and couples. She also has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of children's services, education, addiction, and mental health services and has functioned in a variety of managerial, planning, and statewide leadership positions.

She has a PhD in Counselor Education, a Master of Public Administration degree, a Master of Education degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a BA in Psychology from the University of South Carolina.
Jill Crossgrove
President Elect
Jill Crossgrove, MA, LPC, LPCS, LAC, CCS serves as the President Elect of SCCMHCA. She has been working in the counseling field since 1992, specializing in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. Jill has a MA in Counseling from Webster University and certified as an addiction counselor since 1994. She is the Coordinator of Addiction Treatment at G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital in Columbia, SC and has a small private practice in Northeast Columbia. Jill provides trainings on topics related to the counseling field and clinical supervision for those seeking addiction counselor certification or licensure as a professional counselor.

David A. Kahn, PhD, LPC, LPC/S is the founder, President and owner of The Counseling Center of Florence, LLC. Dr. Kahn brings more than 32 years of experience as a clinical mental health counselor. He is also an adjunct professor.
April L. Coley

April L. Coley is the CEO and Owner of Begin Again Counseling and Consultation Firm, LLC. April's practice is located in Abbeville, SC. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of SC and GA. April has over 13 years of experience in the mental health field, specializing in trauma, and works with dual diagnosed clients ranging from children to geriatrics.
Stephanie Bowman Czeresko
Treasurer
Stephanie Bowman Czeresko is the founder and Clinical Director of Pathways Growth & Learning Center, LLC., located in Columbia, SC. She is a licensed professional counselor with over 20 years in the mental health field. Stephanie is also the Director of Programming at the Big Red Barn Retreat in Blythewood, SC. There, she provides Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to military veterans, active duty military community groups, and individuals with mental health challenges.
Veeda Smalls

For over 17 years Veeda worked for the Santee Wateree Community Mental Health Center in Sumter, SC. Then in 2003, she established her private practice, New Journey Counseling Services, LLC also located in Sumter, SC. Veeda is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 35 years of experience in the counseling profession providing Individual, Family and Couples Therapy with specific focus on Christian Counseling. Veeda serves on the SCCMHCA as chair of the membership committee.
Danny Garrett

Danny began his counseling career in 1985 working for Greer Mental Health Clinic. He maintains licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Licensed Supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors. Danny has worked in various clinical settings over the years.
Kim Finucan

Kim Finucan is currently the Regional Vice President of South Carolina with Mindpath Care Centers. Kim founded Changes Counseling Center and maintains licensure as both a licensed professional counselor and licensed professional counselor supervisor. Kim has a strong commitment to providing clinical care in a way that honors diversity, inclusion and belonging. With over 20 years of behavioral health experience in both clinical and executive roles, she has developed risk management systems, led organizations as they sought to change financial and clinical outcomes while maintaining a client focus.
Nancy Pilat-Renner

Nancy Pilat-Renner, MBA, MA, LPC, LAC, CACI, NCC is the Director of Outpatient Services for Three Rivers Behavioral Health in West Columbia, SC and has been working in the counseling field since 2013. Nancy is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Addiction Counselor, Certified Addictions Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor Candidate. Prior to becoming a counselor, Nancy had more than 25 years in Sales and Marketing.
SCCMHCA Virtual Conference
The conference dates are March 5-6, 2021.

March 5 (6 CE Hours): Posttraumatic Growth (3), Narrative Therapy (3)
March 6 (6 CE Hours): Supervising the Traumatized Counselor (3), Ethics and Diversity in Supervision (3 Ethics Hours)

SCCMHCA is an approved provider of continuing education units by the SC LLR Board for Licensed Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists (Provider #4521). Social Workers can also receive CEUs for this conference.
COVID-19 Vaccination Update

LPCS Supervision Course
SCCMHCA is once again hosting the Supervision Course for those interested in earning their LPCS license. The course will meet on alternating Saturdays March 27 - June 19, 2021, 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and meets the licensure requirements of SC LLR. The course is co-sponsored and will take place on the Campus of Three Rivers Behavioral Health, 2900 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia, SC, Outpatient Services, Building C.

This course will examine the supervisory relationship, models of supervision, ethics and multiple relationship in counseling, managing crisis situations, roles and responsibilities of the supervisor, methods of supervision, multicultural supervision and legal issues. This course will be taught by various LPC Supervisors.

This class is limited to 18 individuals in order to maintain Covid19 protocols and allow for social distancing. If you are interested in taking this class reach out to Nancy Pilat-Renner at 803-546-2923.
Important Licensure Renewal
Information for 2021
Beginning this licensure renewal cycle, LLR is requiring all licensees to create an account with CEBroker to enter information regarding each license and CEUs. This will allow you to download all of the required CEUs received to meet the two year renewal cycle.

March Supervisor Forum
March's Supervisor Forum will be conducted as a webinar. The theme for March is The Power and Value of Video with your Supervisees.
