As we all know, building a home is a complicated process with an abundance of moving parts and pieces. Synchronization of each step of the process ensures the success of the overall operation. Taking the home building process from a piecemeal approach to a well-oiled machine becomes the challenge.
One of the simplest, yet overlooked, practices successful builders implement into their everyday routine is the use of checklists. This low-risk, high-reward process is guaranteed to improve your quality, consistency, and overall customer satisfaction.

Shinn Consulting would like to welcome our newest consultant, Jason Cook. Jason has more than 25 years of experience working in both custom and production home building.
As a private custom builder, he honed many of his skills and learned the essentials of running his own business. Jason worked for a regional production builder where he quickly worked his way up the ranks from superintendent to division construction manager. After several years with a regional builder, he spent time with a local production builder where he earned his position as vice president of operations.
Jason has a passion for quality and schedule management. As a consultant with Shinn Consulting, he excels at field audits and training superintendents how to manage their day-to-day tasks to build homes on quality, on budget, and on time.
Contact us at info@shinnconsulting.com to find out how Jason can help your field personnel improve schedule management and quality.

Once again, over half of the home building companies on Builder's annual list of the nation's biggest builders are members of Builder Partnerships.
It's no surprise so many of our builder members are continually ranked among the top home building companies in the country. Their high rankings are evidence of their commitment to discipline and strong management philosophies, systems, and procedures.
A special shout-out to New Tradition Homes of Vancouver, Washington, for climbing 43 spots and being recognized as the Biggest Mover on the 2022 Builder Next 100 list.
We celebrate the success of our builder members and this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations!

Regardless of size, a well-merchandised outdoor space can make a big impact on the effectiveness of a model home. And now, more than ever, merchandising of the front porches, and other small outdoor spaces, of a model home, is imperative. Many of today’s homebuyers are anxious about buying a new home. The desire is there but with rising interest rates and inflation many buyers are understandably nervous about this big purchase. A welcoming front porch can put a prospective buyer at ease. It can help set the tone of the model and reassure the buyer.

Spring has arrived and with it, a variety of weather. In this in-between time before summer, it’s common to find a variety of hats, boots, and coats making their way onto the floor near the door. Even in warmer climates, umbrellas and backpacks need a designated place to call home.
Enter the multi-functional mudroom. Or, as many designers like to call it, the “drop zone.” In either case, this entryway area has gotten much attention lately. It’s another area of your home that can both be stylish and functional. It’s an excellent opportunity to make a statement that has guests saying “wow!” when they walk through the door.
