Governor Murphy Signs Incentives Package into Law

Governor Murphy has signed into law landmark legislation to create targeted business incentive programs. Included in the legislation is the Evergreen Innovation Fund, a program to spur venture capital in New Jersey that Governor Murphy first proposed in 2018. The legislation also includes enhancements to the wildly successful NOL and Angel Investor Tax Credit Programs and creates the Emerge, Aspire and Ignite programs to encourage job retention and economic redevelopment in the Garden State. BioNJ strongly supports these important programs to ensure our State maintains its status as the “State of Innovation.” We thank Governor Murphy, Senate President Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Coughlin and the NJ Legislature for their work on this important legislation.

Governor Murphy Delivers State of the State Address

Governor Murphy delivered his third State of the State address on January 12. The address was delivered virtually as the State continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Murphy highlighted the State’s accomplishments in the last year, including the COVID response, vaccine rollout and the creation of the Evergreen Innovation Fund and other incentive programs. We look forward to continuing our work with the Governor in 2021 in support of innovation and Patient access.

Assembly Health Approves RDAC

The NJ General Assembly Health Committee has approved A-4016, legislation sponsored by Assemblymen Ronald Dancer, Dan Benson and Anthony Verrelli to create a Rare Disease Advisory Council in New Jersey. The pandemic has illustrated and, in some cases, exacerbated difficulties many Patients have in accessing the right treatment at the right time. For the 95 percent of rare disease Patients without a dedicated treatment, A-4016 would ensure these rare disease Patients have a voice in our State. A New Jersey Rare Disease Advisory Council will help New Jersey improve strategies for care and delivery of services to New Jerseyans with a diagnosed rare disease. BioNJ thanks Committee Chair Assemblyman Herb Conaway and the sponsors for their work on this important issue, and we look forward to making the New Jersey Rare Disease Advisory Council a reality.
