Greetings!

Several bills being heard on Monday require action and you can register for a Lobby Day on Tuesday with Missouri Faith Voices. JCRC will be there and can help with transportation.

Submit written testimony by Monday on:
  • Safe Drinking WaterHB 2532, a bill that would mitigate lead in school drinking water.
  • LGBTQ Rights: HB 2197, HB 2461 & HB 2734, bills that discriminates against transgender children, will be heard.

Remember your written testimony must be submitted one hour prior to the meeting.
On Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m., JCRC is hosting a Legislative Town Hal, where you can hear directly from legislators about what’s going on in Jefferson City, what legislation is on the floor, and how you can take action. Featured guests include Senators Roberts and Schupp, and State Representatives Dogan, Gunby, Mackey, and Schwadron. The meeting is free and open to the entire Jewish Community.

The Conservation and Natural Resources Committee will hold public hearings on Monday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. on the "Get The Lead Out of School Water" Act. You can submit written testimony and you may also read and sign your name to the Metropolitan Congregations United testimony hereJCRC Testimony is available here.

Deadline: Monday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m.
 
The House General Laws Committee will hear HB 2197, HB 2461, and HB 2732, all which would bar transgender youth from participating on a sports team that corresponds with their gender identity. JCRC testified against similar bills in the Senate last week and will be present to testify on Monday nights. Please submit written testimony to oppose these bills.
‣‣‣Contact the Senate Education Committee members to oppose SB 781
Topic: LGBTQ Discrimination
Deadline: As soon as possible.  
 
The Senate Education Committee heard SB 781, which would bar transgender youth from participating on a sports team that corresponds with their gender identity.  Directly contact members of the Senate Education Committee and ask them to vote no on this legislation. Here is JCRC’s prepared testimony to use as a guide.

 Our friends at Missouri Faith Voices are organizing a lobby day on Medicaid Expansion, the Initiative Petition Process, Voting Rights, and much more. This is a great opportunity to stand with our brothers and sisters of faith across the state to support our racial equity priorities.
