Weekly Wrap Up
Standing With Law Enforcement
Friend,

I had a great time attending Dubuque's National Night Out on Tuesday! National Night Out is an annual event to build positive relationships between local enforcement and the communities they serve. I am so grateful for Iowa's law enforcement officers and was so inspired to see so many members of law enforcement and the Dubuque community come together.

With crime rates rising across the country, as well as an increase in radical anti-police rhetoric, it is so important to show community-led support for law enforcement and promote positive relationships that will make our neighborhoods safer.

Our law enforcement officers risk it all to protect us, and I will always stand with them in their work to provide security for Iowa families.

Best,
Visit to Western Dubuque Biodiesel
It was great to be in Farley and tour Western Dubuque Biodiesel this week. Recent fuel supply challenges and rising gas prices have underscored the need to increase the use of biofuels as a reliable and clean energy source, and Iowa's biofuel industry stands ready to meet this need.

Unfortunately, the Administration continues to ignore the clear and readily available benefits of biofuels and overlook Iowa’s producers. I am working to expand the use of biofuels and maintain the integrity of the Renewable Fuel Standard. I have already co-led legislation to extend the biodiesel tax credit and codify waivers that will allow the sale of higher ethanol blended fuels. I will continue to call for policies that provide certainty for Iowa's biofuel producers and farmers during these uncertain times.

Click HERE to learn more about the bipartisan Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension Act, legislation I helped introduce with Congresswoman Cindy Axne (IA-03) that will extend the biodiesel tax credit and provide certainty for Iowa's biodiesel industry.
Combating Communist China
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has long been ripping off the U.S. and getting away with bad behavior on the global stage. On behalf of Iowa families, farmers, and businesses, we need to hold the regime accountable. That is exactly what the Countering Communist China Act, a comprehensive legislation package to meaningfully combat the threat from Communist China, accomplishes. I'm proud that my legislation, the Red Tape Reduction Act, was included in this package.
The Red Tape Reduction Act will reinstate former President Trump's deregulatory agenda that gave small businesses and rural America the freedom to succeed and help our economy grow.

A strong U.S. economy is Communist China's worst nightmare, and we have to get rid of harmful regulations that hold our economy back. Unleashing the full potential of the U.S. economy will ensure we don’t cede any more ground to Communist China.

One Week Until Field of Dreams
The Field of Dreams game in Dyersville is only a week away! This is the first Major League Baseball game to ever be played in Iowa, and I can't wait to see the White Sox and the Yankees face off next week. I'm excited to welcome so many people to our district and showcase our incredible community. Let the one week countdown begin!
Safety & Security for Iowa Families
There were over 210,000 illegal immigrants apprehended at the border last month--the second month in a row that more illegal immigrants tried to cross the border than the entire population of Cedar Rapids. The Administration is also releasing COVID-19 positive migrants into the country, allowing the virus to spread rapidly. This is unacceptable and jeopardizes the safety and security of every Iowan and American.

Watch my full interview on the need to secure our border. I will continue listening to law enforcement on the ground and work to hold the Administration accountable for the border crisis their policies have created.

Advocating for Landowners & Small Businesses
I joined Congressman Randy Feenstra (IA-04) and over 80 of our colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden urging him against capping like-kind exchanges, which would raise taxes on landowners, farmers, and small businesses. Capping like-kind exchanges would disproportionately hurt rural communities like ours, and I'll continue to fight against this tax increase.

Bipartisan Solution for Small Businesses
Small businesses have been through the ringer over the past year and need policies that will make it easier for them to pay the bills and keep their doors open. I continue to hear from main street businesses in our district about the burden of health insurance costs, and I am continuing to pursue common sense solutions to this challenge at the federal level.

That is why I co-sponsored the bipartisan Tax Fairness for the Self-Employed Act, led by Congressman Antonio Delgado (D-NY) and Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL). This bill will bring down the cost of health insurance for self-employed small business owners and farmers, and ensure they are treated the same way that corporations are under the tax code. I’ll continue working to level the playing field for small businesses in our district so that they can continue creating jobs and opportunities for workers.
