Referral and Availability of Monoclonal Antibody Therapies
Data from randomized controlled trials suggest that SARS-CoV-2 specific monoclonal antibody therapies can decrease the amount of virus in one’s system and decrease the need for hospitalization in some patients. These therapies are available under an emergency use authorization (EUA) for patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19, mild to moderate symptoms, and specified risk factors for progression to severe disease. The Mount Sinai Health System has two combination monoclonal therapies available: bamlanivimab/etesevimab and casirivimab/imdevimab. To learn more about referral criteria, read this notice from the Health System.

EmblemHealth Update: New Names You Should Know
Late last year, EmblemHealth announced they were retiring the GHI and HIPIC names and replacing them with new names that better reflect their identity as EmblemHealth. Here is what you need to know:
-
Group Health Incorporated (GHI) is now EmblemHealth Plan, Inc.
-
HIP Insurance Company of New York (HIPIC) is now EmblemHealth Insurance Company
Coverage and benefits are not affected, and this name change does not change how you work with EmblemHealth or their members. It’s just new names for the companies that have been part of your practice for years.
