Clean water for God's thirsty children
Hurricane Relief And Clean Water Are On The Way In Honduras
Our team and partners received the shipments and are now training new Water Women across Honduras.
The destruction caused by the hurricanes left people without access to clean water. Your gifts bring hope to those in need.

A Message from Denis, our Country Coordinator in Honduras:

We have great news to report concerning the relief for Honduran hurricane victims.

Our huge shipment has finally made it through customs in Honduras and is safely stowed in our Tegucigalpa warehouse! I can’t begin to thank all of you for the hard work and dedication that have contributed to this wonderful achievement.

Special thanks go to all of our UPS friends – the UPS Foundation and the workers themselves – who have worked so tirelessly and patiently to ensure the shipping process, in spite of daunting challenges.

And thanks as well to our Sawyer PointONE Filter donors, especially Bill McGraw of Quality Home Products, and Sawyer Products. Last but not least: Food For The Poor is sharing a large portion of the training expenses, along with a host of generous individuals.
We couldn’t be prouder of the spirit of partnership represented in this team. In reality, the support from these corporate sponsors is only possible because of the great-hearted individuals who are part of their individual teams.

Our training and distribution team leaves on Sunday, January 17, for a two-week mission to train and equip more than 1400 mothers in hurricane-affected regions. We will keep you informed on the progress with regular reports and GIS data, along with lots of photos of the Water Women. I know you’ll be as excited as we will when, eventually, we see the addition of 5000 Water Women across northern Honduras.

May you be blessed abundantly for your love for God’s thirsty children in Honduras…
Here in the US and around the world, your gifts bring clean water to God’s thirsty children.

Those buckets will be filled with water we can't imagine coming out of our own faucets. But after it flows through the attached Sawyer PointONE filter, it will be as pure as the best water you will find.

Every day, whether in Honduras, or in Haiti, or in dozens of other countries around the world, Water Women receive the equipment and training to provide clean water to their own and three other families.

But this only happens because of generous people like you. For an investment of $75, 20 people or more will be free of water-borne parasites and illnesses.

Thank you for investing in Water With Blessings.

We Mourn the Passing of a Very Dear Friend
Judy Mitchell
The ‘Patron Saint’ of Filter Socks

Since 2016, Judy Mitchell had been an extraordinary advocate for our mission, a true example of heartfelt generosity in action.

Having learned about the project to crochet ‘filter socks,’ she connected us with the Little Sisters of the Poor, who have gone on to create thousands of socks over the past few years.

Then, recognizing the importance of quality control for the sizing of the socks, Judy came up with the ‘mock filter.’ She made hundreds of them from a combination of PVC pipe, tubes, and soda caps. These ‘mock filters’ have gone across the US to anyone who crochets or knits the socks. Judy became our patron saint of filter socks.

But Judy was also very interested in our larger filter solution for hospitals and health care facilities in the developing world. She helped arrange deployment of this solution to dozens of sites in Africa and South America.

Recently, she took a keen interest in our new building, and was very anxious to see it. God, however, had other plans. But if we know Judy, we’re sure she’s taking a tour with the angels.

There has been no finer friend for God's thirsty children. We are deeply saddened at her passing, but we are confident that she is smiling, gazing down on our new space and new initiatives.

No one was more HOPEful, more passionate for our mission. May she rest in God’s eternal light and peace.
Why We Support
Water With Blessings
Pat and Gail Evans

Gail and Pat Evans got to know Sr. Larraine Lauter before the founding of Water With Blessings, when she served in the Social Responsibility Ministry at the Church of the Epiphany in Louisville, Kentucky. They talked with us about their support for the mission:

“She used to go on mission trips at that time and would report to us about the work. Later, after she started Water With Blessings, she would speak at Mass. She’d bring her bucket filled with dirty, grungy water from Floyds Fork, and hand the filtered water to the priest to drink. The rest of us were glad we weren’t offered any. But it did make quite an impact.

“A year or so later, she was getting ready for a trip and we noticed she was using a hand-operated drill to bore the holes in the buckets. We asked if there was electricity where she was going, and she said there was access to a generator. So we got her a battery-operated, rechargeable drill and new bits to use.

“We like the idea that the people who are helped go on to help provide water for others – the ability to pay it forward. And it’s self-sustaining. It’s not a complicated process to get people to understand that others in the developing world are dying of dirty water.

“We also like that there’s not a lot going to administrative staff. The resources go to getting the job done. Sister is quite frugal: turning the lights off when she’s not using a room, no fancy furnishings. She runs the organization so a maximum amount of the donations are going to the cause.

“With Water With Blessings, we know our donations are going to a great cause, not to a big organization. We certainly believe in this and the impact Sister has had.”
Calling Our Crafters: In Memory of Judy Mitchell, Please Help Us Cover Those Filters

As we mentioned above, we have lost Judy Mitchell, our leading advocate for filter socks. To honor her memory, we encourage our crafters to help us as we restock our supply. As we have been saying, with the tremendous response to our pleas for help, our supply continues to shrink. And with our success around the world, and the extra urgent need in Central America and Haiti, we need more now.

The Water Women love these colorful covers, and we have always appreciated the creativity of our Water With Blessings crafting community. To find out how to help, please click on the button below. Thank you again for your help.
This Week on Coffee Chat...

We will receive a live update from Honduras, documenting the progress of the Water With Blessings efforts to help those suffering the effects of the two hurricanes. Over the several weeks, thousands of new Water Women will receive the equipment and training they need to begin filtering clean water for their own and three other families.

So this Friday at Noon Eastern time: grab a beverage, fire up your computer or electronic device, and get ready for a great time. We will pray, laugh, and learn, while winding down from the ongoing weekly craziness. See you then!
We believe every child should be drinking clean water. Are you with us?
