THE LIFE OF MOSES – LESSON 32

TO MOVE OR STAY

During Israel’s forty years of wandering in the wilderness they would journey to a location and camp there for a period of time. Then they would break camp and move on their journey to another location and camp there.

How did they know whether to stay put in a camp or to break camp and continue the journey? Did God simply tell Moses when it was time to move on? No, we find the answer at the very end of Exodus (Ex. 40:34-38.)

They had just finished building the tabernacle and completely furnishing it the way God had specified. Moses and Aaron finished by lighting the lamps and completed the dedication of the tabernacle. They came near to the altar in the court in front of the tent “of the congregation.” that covered the most holy place where the ark of the covenant was located.

Then a cloud covered the tent that held the ark. The glory of Jehovah (v. 34) covered it and filled the tabernacle. Moses was not able to enter the tent because of the fullness of the glory of Jehovah filled the tent. Thereafter the only one who could enter the tent where the ark of the covenant sat would be the high priest on the Day of Atonement.

Back now to the original question: How did they know when it was time to resume the journey? Verses 36-37 tell us. As long as the cloud of glory sat upon the tent of the congregation, they were to remain in camp. When the cloud lifted off the tent and moved and went above them, they were to pack up and resume their travel. While they traveled, the cloud would remain above them during the daytime and fire was above them during the night.

Sometimes God (Holy Spirit) will give us an assignment. We must “travel” to the assignment. It might involve going someplace for it, or you might remain where you are physically located to “go do the assignment.” The assignment might be brought to you or given for you to do. (Including prayer assignments.)

If Holy Spirit does not place a thought or “assignment” for you, then it is time to “stay put” and occupy the ground to which He has assigned you. It is critically important to keep our spiritual ears tuned to Holy Spirit. We must be careful not to get so wrapped up in the events of the day that we lose our sensitivity to hear with our spiritual ears.

LISTENING TO HOLY SPIRIT

If you have ever hunted, the first thing you must learn as a child is to be very quiet. Noise will scare off what you are trying to hunt. In very few cases is talking part of the “hunt.” If you have ever seen deer, they have very fine-tuned hearing and a great sense of smell. Animals sense things that most people do not sense. This is how God protects them with these “instincts.”

One little noise and the deer will bolt. If you are a good shot, you might be able to make contact while they are running, but once they run, and they are swift, your chance is gone.

The same thing holds true of listening to God through the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He does not shout, and he does not push. He speaks to us through that still small voice. He knows the scriptures because He is the writer. He moved on men of old by inspiration (God breathed) and they penned down what He said. This is how all the scriptures came to us. (II Timothy 3:16.) We must get quiet to listen or we will miss Him.

It tells us in Hebrews chapter one that in the Old Testament that God spoke through the fathers (leaders) by the prophets. The king or warrior would go to a prophet to hear what God wanted them to do. The Holy Spirit was not on all believers in the Old Testament. He was on the Prophet, the Priest, and the King.

Hebrews goes on to tell us that in the last days (after Jesus’ resurrection and the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost) God speaks to us by his Son, Jesus. Remember, Jesus is the word made flesh. So, as we read the word, Holy Spirit sheds light on it. In John 16 verse 13 Jesus is speaking and says, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear (from Jesus and the Father) that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

Holy Spirit reveals truth as we listen to Him. We must have an ear to hear as it says in Revelation 2:7; 2:11; 2:17; 2:29; 3:6; 3:13; 3:22. Jesus told John to send letters to seven churches and each message ends with “he that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Those that listened received. Those that did not listen lost out.

Listening to Holy Spirit is vital in these last of the last days. Without getting quiet first and then hearing from Holy Spirit we may lose an opportunity to be a witness or may even lose our lives.  Most of the time we hear Holy Spirit through the written word of God, but He also speaks to each of us personally, and if we tune in, we can hear Him. Train your spiritual ears to hear. Holy Spirit will never contradict scripture.

Like that deer, when we hear, we may run from danger to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Like the hunter, we may be led  by Holy Spirit to bring the salvation message to someone we have never met so they are snatched out of darkness into God’s light.

Prophetic Word

As given to Helen Sanders

September 27, 2018

Rise up! Rise up! This is not the hour to sit back and be idle saith the Lord. Rise Up! Rise up! Put on the whole armour of God for there is a battle ahead that requires you to be fully clothed in my armour. For this is the time to rise up and take back what the enemy has stolen, and most assuredly will come to steal. You must, again I say must put on my full armour and be ready to fight this fight saith the Lord. The enemy will come at you from all sides, and you must have yourself battle ready. My children have been idle and not resisting the enemy. They have been slow to speak against the words that come from the enemy and many are being defeated. You must rise up in my power and my authority and take back what has been lost. For the battle is raging and will become more intense. You must shod yours feet with peace, and not fight this fight in the flesh. You must not, I said you must not try to fight this fight in the flesh, for your weapons of warfare are not fleshly but they are spiritual weapons. This fight will be won as you rise up and go in my power. My children have slept when the enemy crept into their homes. My children have slept as lies were whispered in their ears, bringing them defeat. This is not the hour to sleep. This is not the hour to listen to the enemy. You must rise up in my armor and fight the fight of faith. For this is the time that the battle will become stronger than you have ever seen. You must put on the helmet of salvation. Helmet of salvation you would say? Yes. This helmet will protect your thoughts. Salvation brings you complete and total protection from the enemy that whispers doubt and unbelief into your ears. What is the helmet? The helmet is my Word, and as you meditate on my Word, the helmet becomes more powerful. You must wear this helmet daily to ward off the thoughts that will surely come to bring you down. Cast off the thoughts from your enemy and bring my word into your mind, will, and emotions. If you protect yourself with my helmet, you will not be easily deceived. Oh, that my children would rise up and be all that I have made them to be. Would there be those that would listen to me instead of the words of the enemy? Many of my children are wounded because they have not put on the breastplate of my armour. This protects your vital organs my children. Without the breastplate the enemy would thrust his poison darts into your heart to stop your heart. He pierces through your weak flesh and poisons your heart with fear, doubt, and unbelief and the poison spreads into your body and brings illness and eventually death. You must put on the breastplate, which is your protection. The breastplate is my Word, that will guard your heart. Put on my breastplate and your heart will be protected and guarded.  Oh, that my children would rise up and take the sword of faith that will ward off those fiery darts, but most of my children are asleep waiting for someone else to fight their fight. They have slept while the enemy crept in and stole their sword of faith. Their faith is weak, and the darts have passed into them because their faith is weak. Rise up and take the sword of the Spirit, which is my Word, and fight the battle with my Word. Oh, my children you will win the battles when you take these weapons and clothe yourselves in my armour. You have everything necessary to win, but you have slept and not been battle ready. Repent my children and rise up and be all that I have called you to be, wearing my armour which will enable you to stand in this hour. You shall see a turn around when you rise up, clothe yourself, and go forth in my armour and my strength. For I long to see your life full of victory.   I long to see you win the battle. I long for you to be clothed and equipped to do all that is necessary to be victorious. Rise up, rise up and wake up from your sleep. You can rest in me knowing that I am with you, but you must rise up in my strength and my armour saith the Lord.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Perhaps you’re looking at those troubling situations you’ve encountered lately as an unexpected SETBACK; But just know that God looks at them as a divine SETUP for a great GET UP that you’ve been praying about for your life. Therefore the time has come for every invading imitator, every distasteful agitator and every intruding aggravator to be exposed and to be brought down and pulled out and taken away from your life. As a child of God you can know that God will arise mightily on your behalf as He scatters all your enemies. (Psalms 68:1) That’s when every situation that has been brought against you will be exposed, scattered and eradicated. Listen to what God’s Word says in Deuteronomy 28:7…”The LORD will defeat any enemies who attack you. They will come against you from one direction but will run for their lives away from you in seven different directions.” So just step back and look what our Lord is doing for you.
