Weekly Director Letter 02/26/2021
Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that in a blink of an eye February is gone and Monday we will be into March. Starting in April, our teachers in the classes ages 1-4 (NOT VPK) will begin to do their Ages and Stages Assessments. By May they will be able to give you the results so that you can know how your child is reaching their developmental milestones. Starting today you will be getting a parent consent form to fill out. Before the teachers can to their assessments on your child, you will need to complete a brief parent phone interview. Once you have filled out the paperwork, you will get a call from a data collection person to get information the teachers will need. These are volunteers from an outside agency called Early Steps. Please take some time to complete the call when they reach out to you.

As we start March we are already in the planning stages for summer camp. As of the writing of this email, all of our classes are currently full and we have begun our waitlist. If you know anyone who is looking for a great place for their child, encourage them to tour now as we will open the waitlist on June 7th.

This year rather than rolling our kids up to their classes for next year in August, we will transition SOME of our classes when summer camp starts June 7th. Also with regard to the summer camp, families who need to take time off are permitted to take 2 weeks off over the summer. Please start planning early so that you can let us know the two weeks you will take off if you plan to do so by May 1st. This will allow me to monitor class sizes and allow staff to take their vacation time when enrollment is lower.

Likewise, if you have any siblings or know kids in Grades K-5 looking for a great summer camp, it's not too early to sign up. With the world going back to work, we have been swamped for tours for summer and fall. As VPK will be over and the VPK certificate will no longer subsidize part of the school day, the rate for summer camp for kids in our VPK and K-5 program will be $150 for half day which will be 7:30-1:00 or $180 for full day 7:30-5:30. Kids needing extended day til 6:00 can stay for only $10 extra weekly. We have tried to keep our camp rate low for this age range despite higher costs during COVID. We noticed that REM is changing $210 weekly for camp.

Finally, next week are kids in VPK, K, & 1 will take part in special activities for Dr. Suess week.

Have a great weekend!
