QLD COVID UPDATE
AUGUST 23

Dear ,

Late last week, both the QLD Dept of Education & the Dept of Tourism, Innovation & Sport issued updates on the COVID situation and the easing of restrictions.

In essence, the updates mean that -

  • In line with recent updates to the Roadmap to easing restrictions, the Education Queensland COVID-19 planning framework has been updated taking effect from 4pm Friday, 20 August 2021.
  • In the Cairns region and Yarrabah, state schools will follow scenario 1 (COVID normal)
  • For the 11 Local Government Areas in the South East, state schools will follow scenario 2 (restrictions in places but no lockdown)
  • While masks are not required when you are outdoors, you must carry your mask with you at all times & masks must continue to be worn in indoor spaces.
  • Indoor & outdoor sport and recreation activities can have one person per four square metres or 75% allocated seated density but physical distancing measures do not apply to the field of play.
  • The above restrictions will remain in place at least until 4pm Friday 27 August 2021.
  • Specific grants for businesses and not-for-profit organisations has been made available. Applications for these grants opened on 16 August 2021. See this Business Queensland webpage, which includes and eligibility checker.

Obviously, this is really good news for all members in QLD & deserves our gratitude!

Blessings to everyone,

Graeme
