from MOCHA (Ministry of Coffee Hour Activities)
The moment you’ve all been waiting for is almost here!
Beginning September 17, after-service hospitality will again include coffee. Again this year, the MOCHA team will be hosting twice a month and we will be asking YOU to assist on the other Sundays.
Everything that you need will be provided. Check out the signup sheet on the refreshment table. Thanks in advance for your help in providing hospitality to our congregation.

Sunday, Sept. 10 - In-Church Drop-In Discussion: Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT.
Artificial intelligence enables machines to reason, using data on a scale individual human beings could never process. ChatGPT is a form of AI that interacts with people in human-like terms. What are we to make of this? Tim Mullins, who teaches computer science, will be the presenter. Please bring your cell phone. We will meet at 9:15am in the Chalice Room. Drop-in discussions will continue through the church year on the first Sunday of the month.
Sunday, Sept. 10 | Library Reopens!
The church library and bookstore will open again after the service on Sunday, September 10. Come and enjoy some browsing, borrowing, and buying during coffee hour! You can buy used books for whatever amount you wish to pay or new books for half the list price. Please have exact change, or checks made out to the church. Books may be borrowed from the church library by members and anyone who has attended long enough to have a permanent name tag. And don’t forget that free magazines are available any time from the library’s magazine rack.
Sunday, Sept. 10 | Food Ingathering
Our monthly food ingathering for the Community Food Cupboard of Rochester at Nester Street is happening at our service on September 10! Low-sodium non-perishable food, toiletries, paper products, and cash are always needed!
Sunday, Sept. 10 | Book Group: “Orphan Train”
Our book group selection for August is “Orphan Train” by Christina Baker Kline. The Book Group will meet at noon in the Chalice Room. We should be able to have a lively discussion about this novel so please consider joining us. We love piquing interest and
hope to see you there. Questions? Contact bookgroup@uuroc.org.
