Our Journey down the East Coast on the only Available NEW Sabre 58!

We feel fortunate to have the only new Sabre 58 available in the world! Additionally, to represent this beautiful vessel in the Northwest boating community is exciting!

Before we can bring it to the West Coast—and Bellingham Yachts— we needed to get it in position to load on the cargo ship to head West. Thus, we seized the opportunity to personally bring it from Charleston, SC (where a captain had brought it) to Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Along for the ride was Dean and Donna Ouilette, founders of Bellingham Yachts, along with Heather and Matt Ouilette, current owners of Bellingham Yachts. It was a beautiful adventure to experience together given the personal connection to the East Coast, the family legacy of Bellingham Yachts, and the deep history with Sabre Yachts.

The journey took us 470 nautical miles and three days on the water! Check out our route.

The Journey Begins!

We kicked off the adventure flying into Charleston, South Carolina. Upon arrival we stocked the Sabre 58 with 3 days worth of provisions and made sure the safety gear was in place. We moved marinas, clearing a lifted draw bridge and fueled up so we could start our first day on the water bright and early!

Saved by the Seakeeper

The first day on the water was a big one — 11 hours and 12 miles off shore, without a boat or land in sight! The weather wasn't exactly in our favor, with big primary and secondary swells up against our beam. Thank goodness for the Seakeeper! The Sabre 58 handled like a dream. After a long day we finally reached St. Augustine. We refueled, topped off our water, tidied up, and savored the evening in the US's oldest city.

We Aren't in the PNW Anymore

Our second day we enjoyed 8 hours of smooth sailing. The highlight of the day was catching a glimpse of Cape Canaveral! As we came into Fort Pierce, navigating the shallow channels was a bit hair-raising—a stark contrast to our PNW adventures— but the trusty Sabre 58 got us to the dock safely.

The Final Day on the Water

The last leg of our journey took us from Fort Pierce to Fort Lauderdale, a 5 hour jaunt with the shore never far from sight. When we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale we went straight to the Boat show docks to get our Sabre 58-14 ready for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (check out FLIBS here).

We are absolutely in awe of this Sabre 58-14. This vessel handles incredibly well in big water and the comfort level is amazing. After wow-ing the crowds at the show our Sabre 58-14 will be on its way to the West Coast!
