Black History Resources
February is Black History Month, an annual celebration of contributions and achievements by Black Americans. From exhibits to oral histories to virtual programs we've compiled a list of resources to help you explore and reflect on the lived experience of Black Americans. Stop by the Library year-round to learn more of our diverse history.

is to know yourself.”—Ibram X. Kendi
Love and Kindness

The poet Rumi wrote, "Love is the bridge between you and everything." And actor Morgan Freeman said, "How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time." Many of us associate February with Valentine's Day (February 14), a day we express our love to others with flowers, confections, and cards. Did you know that Random Acts of Kindness Week takes place in February as well (February 13–19)? Studies show that both love and kindness can reduce pain, stress, anxiety, depression, and a host of other ills. Visit the Library to select your dose of love and kindness this month. We'd love to see you!
READy for a Blind Date?

Drop by the Library to pick up a wrapped book without knowing its title. We provide brief descriptions on the book wrappers to help you choose. Once you're home, unwrap
it to meet your date. Give the book a chance, but if things don’t work out, simply return it. No hard feelings! Fill out your “Rate Your Date” bookmark and turn it in with the book at the Library Help Desk for a chance to win a prize!

Organize Your Family Records
Interested in searching for your ancestors? Join us for our monthly "All Things Relative: Finding Family at the Library," as we explore a different genealogy topic with Historian and Librarian Kathy Nielsen.

This month’s topic on Thursday, February 10 at 4:00 pm explores how to get organized. What do we do with all of our family trees, documents, photos, and random notes? Sign up for the Zoom link to hear some ideas about how to organize your genealogy treasures.

Between January 28 and March 9, families can pick up a reading log at the Library or Bookmobile and track the time they spend reading together.
