PERSON OF THE MONTH
Bill Dempsey is our February 2022 Battle4Children Person of the Month. He exemplifies the meaning of love portrayed in our Lord Jesus Christ 1Thessalonians 1:3 Wherever there is a Christian coffeehouse, event, or venue, Bill is there to help support it and the musicians he represents in order to help spread God's Word. His tireless efforts and friendship over the years have touched many of us who share the love of Christ through our music. A friend, to say the least, Bill has supported the efforts of Battle4Children, volunteering for many of our events, including our annual Battle of Christian Bands.
Thank you Bill for your continued support and love. We look forward to you supporting us, as we support you for many years to come.

On Friday, January 28th, while walking his dog, Gus, Bill and Gus were struck by a pick-up truck whose driver was attempting to catch the light. Bill, now out of ICU, suffered numerous injuries, including a fractured jaw, broken fingers, and more. His humor remains as shown in his recent quote "I was told by physical therapy that the next steps are up to the hand surgeons. After 3 days, I have yet to see either them or the oral surgeons.
I am starting to believe they are all groundhogs and I will find out on Wednesday if I am going home or have 6 more weeks of rehab."
We ask you all for prayers for a speedy recovery.

Greetings!
We are facing many issues in today's world. Day after day we hear and learn about gun violence, drugs, or the ever-present and evolving variants of the coronavirus. In today's media, we also hear and see the increasing floods and fires devastating our communities. So much tragedy and sadness. Another issue we face, and one we at Battle4Children are facing on a daily basis, is HUMAN TRAFFICKING.
One of the latest articles from the U.S. Department of State reads, as reported over the past five years, human traffickers exploit domestic and foreign national victims in the United States, and traffickers exploit victims from the United States abroad. Human trafficking cases have been reported in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. Traffickers compel victims to engage in commercial sex and to work in both legal and illicit industries and sectors, including in hospitality, traveling sales crews, agriculture, janitorial services, construction, landscaping, restaurants, factories, care for persons with disabilities, salon services, massage parlors, retail, fairs, and carnivals, peddling and begging, drug smuggling and distribution, religious institutions, child care, and domestic work. Individuals who entered the United States with and without legal status have been identified as trafficking victims. (continue reading)

As we head into the months ahead, we look at 2022 as being a year of contemplating the return of our annual Battle of Christian Bands. With COVID cases spiking and church doors limiting the number of guests, where do we turn to in order to find a host? The Battle was more of an informational event than a fundraising event. Over its ten years in existence it averaged approximately $1500 a year. It became our biggest event annually, but not because of how much money that was brought in, more so, it was the number of people who not only heard God's Word but also were enlightened by the information received on cases of child sexual abuse and human trafficking and why we exist. With that said, 2022 remains the year we look to revive the Battle and look to 2023 to be the year of its return. Those of you interested in volunteering to be on the Battle Committee to help brainstorm locations and more, please contact us at battlebands4children@comcast.net
