Intermountain Healthcare's director of infectious diseases, Dr. Todd Vento, is the 2022 winner of the Deborah LaMarche Telehealth Excellence Award. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Vento led the hospital system's effort to ramp up telehealth services, and he implemented daily virtual clinical rounds for Intermountain and its outreach facilities, ensuring that hospitalized patients had access to a team of clinical subject-matter experts.

During the COVID-19 emergency, Vento served as a key advisor to Intermountain’s executive leadership team and its emergency operations center. He was also an advisor to the Utah Governor’s Task Force.
Dr. Vento has been the medical director of infectious diseases at Intermountain Healthcare for the past six years. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps and has responded to disease outbreaks across the world. The award was presented to Dr. Vento in August at Intermountain’s telehealth building in Murray.
Executive Summary Released: Utah Telehealth Claims Dashboard
An executive summary of the data presented in the Telehealth Claims Dashboard has posted to the utn.org website. The summary provides an overview of the key findings and patterns in the data and explains just how much the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the use of telehealth in the state over the past three years.

The dashboard is a public resource providing valuable insights for healthcare providers, healthcare systems, insurers, patients, researchers and policymakers. Read the summary to learn more about the average allowed payment amount for a telehealth visit, or to find out what age group uses telehealth the most, etc.
Network Services
Every site on the UETN network is being upgraded to a 1 Gbps connection and will receive a new network switch and firewall as part of the new service. Many of the new connections have already been installed and the rest will be installed during October and November.
Security Services

As cybersecurity threats continue to rise, UETN is deploying new state-of-the-art firewalls and security services to minimize these threats. A 2021 study by Critical Insight using HHS info found that from 2018 to 2021, there was an 84% increase in the number of data breaches against healthcare organizations.

If you have any questions about the UETN network and security services, please email info@utn.org.
