DECD Commissioner David Lehman Announces CT Economic Development Summit: Building Business

The state will host the second annual Connecticut Economic Development Summit at the Yale School of Management in New Haven on Tuesday, November 29.


This unique, half-day afternoon conference will focus on the policies, decisions, and innovation driving economic development in Connecticut; the influx of new businesses over the past year; and why Connecticut is a highly desirable corporate location AND place to live right now.

Avangrid signs deal with Sempra to develop green hydrogen, ammonia projects

AVANGRID, a member of the Iberdrola Group (NYSE: AGR), and Sempra Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Sempra (NYSE: SRE) (BMV: SRE), today announced they have entered into a heads of agreement (HOA) for the potential joint development of U.S. green hydrogen and ammonia projects powered by renewable sources.


The HOA provides a framework for the companies to identify, appraise, and potentially develop large-scale green hydrogen projects to help meet the energy and decarbonization needs of both U.S. and international customers.

West Haven gets $500,000 EPA grant for economic development

City officials are looking to leverage a federal grant to promote economic development at vacant city properties.


City Grants Coordinator Doug Colter said the city roughly one month ago received a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to fund environmental studies on vacant sites. In a statement, Mayor Nancy Rossi said developers could contact the city to fund Phases I and II of an environmental assessment report.


The reports would create an assessment of the extent and cost of any remediation efforts for hazardous chemicals on a vacant property. Colter said this brownfield grant likely would fund assessments for about 15 properties. Read More
