Three Susanville City Council Seats on June 7th Municipal Election Ballot
Three seats on the Susanville City Council will be up for grabs in the June 7th, election, and the nomination period for council candidates is underway.

According to Susanville City Clerk Heidi Whitlock the general municipal election will be held June 7th, 2022 to elect three members to the City Council for full four-year terms.

The nomination period for these offices closes on March 11th, 2022 at 5:00p.m.
Whitlock explains that if the nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the City are not filed by March 11th, voters will have until March 16th to nominate candidates other than the incumbents for that incumbent’s elective office.

If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by the Elections Code of the State of California.

New Schools for Susanville
February 22, 1949

Detailed plans for the next two buildings in the elementary school construction program were inspected and approved at a meeting of the Susanville elementary school board Wednesday night.

The complete plans were presented Architect Robert E. Kaestner of Visalia.

Clyde Merton, assistant superintendent of elementary schools in charge of the building program, said it is hoped that advertising for bids will begin in about two weeks. The plans have been submitted to the state division of architecture for approval.

It is hoped that work will begin on the two buildings by April 1, Merton said.

Both new buildings as the new Lincoln unit will have radiant heating through the floor. They will be one story with sloping shed type roofs with large window spaces of modern design.

The superintendent of school’s office will probably be in the building on the Washington site.
