Surgery on older adults can be risky, so it is important to understand trends in surgical procedures over time. A recent study conducted by the University of Chicago Medicine found a decreased frequency in major surgeries in older adults. It is likely that improved medical treatments and screenings could result in the reduced need for more invasive surgeries.

Talking on Zoom Could Help Older People Stave Off Dementia
A recent study by the University of West London’s Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory suggests that video-chat programs like Zoom have helped older adults stave off dementia effects over the course of the pandemic. It has been shown that regular communication supports long-term memory. However, use of “diverse, frequent and meaningful interactions” to supplement traditional face-to-face communication have a significant impact. Therefore, use of video conferencing tools like Zoom have been helpful in preventing memory decline.

11th Annual Indiana Health Care Foundation's Golf Outing

New Research Finds Vitamin D and Calcium Supplements Can Reduce Fracture Risk
New research found that fracture risk could be cut significantly by taking vitamin D and calcium supplements together, but there were no benefits observed from supplementing with vitamin D alone.
