Family Promise has forged a vigorous response to the heightened needs of families experiencing homelessness brought on by COVID. They have renovated three houses with twelve residents in place, and received a CARES grant to fund The Rapid Rehousing and Prevention Program providing custom services for each family.
And finally, the Emergency Shelter Program that we support has overcome the challenge of host church building closures and is now sheltering families in hotels with support from congregational volunteers. We deliver meals, either home-made by volunteers, ordered by volunteers for delivery by near-by restaurants, or by donating a gift card mailed to Family Promise.
Our CUMC Host week, August 8 through August 15 is now upon us, and the families need our support as always.  No hosting in person is required.  We do need to provide 21 meals for the families during our host week. If you would like to help, please visit the Sign-up Genius page below to sign up to provide a dinner meal, either home-made or ordered from one of the listed restaurants, or by gift card. The Sign-up Genius contains detailed instructions. Meals are delivered in Morris Plains. In addition to the meals, there is an opportunity to donate funds for moving expenses, and other needs as explained below on the Sign-up Genius page. Gift cards must be mailed as explained in the instructions. Any expenses related to meals will be reimbursed. Please note that donations of funds, gift cards not related to meals, etc. are not reimbursed by the CUMC Ministry.

Or if you prefer, you may call Claudia Shaw at the number below to sign up.  We need 21 meals to be delivered that week and any help is greatly appreciated. Please pray for our Ministry and all who are part of it.

CUMC Outreach
Volunteers are always needed
Altar Flower Dedication
The Fall 2021 Calendar is now available on the bulletin board outside Jeff’s office; dedication forms and envelopes are located underneath the calendar. By donating altar flowers on Sunday, you help add the beautiful gift of flowers to our Sanctuary. Cost of donating flowers is $40 check made out to CUMC; please specify Altar Flowers in the memo line.
Donating flowers is a wonderful way to honor, celebrate, or commemorate a special occasion or a loved one. Flower arrangements are created by Chatham’s Sunnywoods Florist; you may choose to take the flowers with you after the 10:00 service or specify to have them donated. Flowers donated are brought to our church members at home or in care facilities. The colorful bouquets not only brightens their day, they offer spiritual support and reminds recipients that they are so very important to our church community. Weekends from September through December are available for 2021. Please note that we will be starting flowers in September and not during the summer. Please reserve your weekend today! Questions, please email Eileen Ruggiero at chatumc@optonline.net.
