DECEMBER 13, 2021
Hello Parkside Families,

December is in full swing and Winter Break will be here before we know it! Our First Trimester ended last week. Report Cards will be available on Skyward on December 14th, so be sure to login and review your child's progress.

This month, we are thankful for the parent volunteers who decorated our school into a winter wonderland! We also appreciate the help of the parents that volunteered to help with the Holiday Shop. Since we have asked for volunteers, we have fielded many questions about clearances. If you would like to come into school during the day to help out when needed, and do not have volunteer clearances on file with the district, please CLICK HERE for information.

The Band and Chorus Concert will be held on Tuesday, December 14th at 7:00. Mrs. Deni and Mr. Orlando have a ticket sign up for those who have a child performing. In order to maintain spacing and safety, only families with a child participating will receive tickets for the event. We look forward to hearing and seeing our student's perform in person!

Beginning on December 17th until December 23rd, we will have spirit days. Please see the list below so that your child may participate;

Friday 12/17--Don't Sweat December--Wear Sweats
Monday 12/20--Be Holly Jolly--Wear Red
Tuesday 12/21--Don't be a Grinch, but--Wear Green
Wednesday 12/22--Wear your Ugly Holiday Sweater
Thursday 12/23--Polar Express us to winter break--Wear PJs (regular shoes please, NO SLIPPERS)

Finally, it is winter and is cold outside! Please make sure that you are encouraging your child to dress in layers. Students should be prepared to spend 25 minutes a day outside at recess unless the temperature falls below freezing. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately. Also, please refrain from sending your child to school before 8:40 am--the doors do not open until then and we do not want students waiting outside in the cold weather!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me via phone or email.

THIS MONTH AT PARKSIDE
MATH IS FUN!

Students are using manipulatives, teamwork, and critical thinking to solve problems every day! Math is a time for hands on learning to find solutions. Here are a few of our friends working on math in the First Trimester!
ATTENDANCE REMINDER

Just a reminder about excused absences. When students are absent, in order to have that absence excused, parents or guardians must provide a signed excusal note within 3 days of returning to school. Excusal notes received from doctors are automatically excused. Our attendance policy can be found on the Parkside web site and in the Parkside Handbook.

HOLIDAY DOOR DECORATING

Special thanks to all those who decorated our doors last weekend, it is truly a wonderful time of the year when the Holiday Door Decorating brings our building to life with color and holiday cheer! Here are a few of the doors, but there are many more that made us smile as well. Thank you parents and friends for your creativity and kindness to celebrate the holiday season here at school!

HEALTH & SAFETY NEWS
MASK INFORMATION

Dr. Steinhoff sent a message to the school community regarding the lifting of the mask mandate in schools and expressed Penn Delco's message that "The CDC and the PA Department of Health “recommends universal indoor masking for all staff, students, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status”. Accordingly, the district will recommend universal masking of all persons in our schools." We will still have masks available for students if they need one. Parents should make their child aware of their parental expectations regarding masks while at school. Please reach out if you have any questions.
