Well last evening seems to be fitting given the year we’re experiencing. Quite the election hangover with plenty of twists and turns plus surprises and no definitive answer to who will be our next leader of the free world.

The good news is that more Americans voted than ever before. An involved and informed electorate is critical to our democracy.

Looks as though the results of the presidential election will take a little more time to sort out but, sooner or later we’ll have the results and regardless of who wins we must all accept the choice and work together to pick up the pieces of our economy and move forward in unity.

Let’s proceed with caution and respect for each other, work together to halt the advancement of this pandemic and reset our lives with renewed respect for each other. Our system of government is still the envy of the world and the best system of government exactly because of what we just went through.

On the local front, Escondidians have made their choices, and a full City Council will be in operation came January. We should applaud all the candidates who chose to go through the process and run for office. And, we must accept the choices made and move forward.

A huge thank you goes out to my Board of Directors, our volunteer arm of the Chamber - the Ambassadors and all of the sponsors we had supporting our 22nd annual Chamber Challenge Golf tournament held this Monday at the Woods Valley Golf Club. The success of this outing was visible proof of the unified support this Chamber has from the business community and we are thankful. We also were able to achieve and exceed our goals for the outing. Most importantly, we were able to raise funds for our Rising Stars Scholarship program. If you’d like to see the results of the winners please click here and if you’d like more information on the Rising Stars Scholarship program please go here.

The Chamber is going places and doing things like never before. We’re buoyed by the response we receive on a daily basis from our members and are constantly working to be even more effective on our mission to build a vibrant business community in north inland San Diego County.

Please consider being a part of this movement and join the Chamber. Contact us at the Chamber for more information.

Sincerely,

James Rowten (JR)

Small Business Needs Our Help
California’s small businesses employ over 7 million people, and make up 95% of all businesses in this region. Most employ less than 100 workers, and businesses with 4 employees or less comprise 65% of the
total, like our neighborhood grocery or restaurant. The problems I encountered running my small retail
business are what first led me to run for public office.
