STAYING CONNECTED TO YOUR CHURCH COMMUNITY
Thursday, August 5, 2021
Worshiping together is a gift. If you haven’t had a chance yet to come “back to church” you may be amazed at how comforting it is! Entering the sanctuary, hearing the music, settling in to praise God, hear scripture proclaimed and preached, and then go to God with all our celebrations and concerns . . . it feels so good to worship together.
Confirmation Congratulations!

"Kofi Poku, son of Nana and Kerz Poku celebrated the Rite of Confirmation this past Saturday in a private ceremony led by Rev. Anne Marie Holloway, Deacon Mimi D'Angelo, and the Rev. Judy Swahnberg -- who provided a prayerful blessing! Kofi's sisters and cousin all traveled to the church to serve as witness to this special occasion! Kofi, is a member of the Confirmation Class of 2020. We praise God for the blessing of being able to navigate complicated schedules and a past year of COVID schedule related challenges. Congratulations Kofi! We welcome you ("officially") as a young adult member of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church!"
Family Promise Metrowest is grateful for the generous donation from Wellesley Hills Congregational Church as our organization relies on the support of congregations like yours to help families who are facing homelessness. Through our LIFE program we help families facing eviction from ever experiencing the trauma of becoming homeless. (The $4400 that you donated is enough to help three of those families stay in their home!) Families who are already without a home receive services through our Shelter program. In the past, congregations supported our shelter by turning their classrooms into bedrooms, where our families would stay overnight for a week or two at a time. That model, which relied quite heavily on the dedication of volunteers from each of our network congregations, is changing. By Spring 2022, our Day Center, located in Natick, will be renovated to provide sleeping space for shelter families. It’s a big change for us. But one thing will remain the same: the need for dedicated volunteers and the support of Hills Church. It is because of this strong support that we can keep pace with the increasing demand for our services. So far this year, 35 families with 50 children have a safe place to sleep and are on the road to sustainability. You helped us make that happen, and we are so grateful.
Backyard Ministry
Youth (in grades 6-12) are invited to participate in our Hills Church Backyard Ministry opportunities this summer.

Choose a date to sign up and care for the vegetables in our gardens HERE. More on the care for our gardens HERE.
Acts of Kindness
We are asking our families to take part in performing acts of kindness throughout the summer. The more people take the challenge the kinder, safer, and more engaged our world will become! So, become a "kindness ambassador" by signing up to take the challenge and begin to observe the impact you make as the "ripple effect" spreads. With your sign-up, you will receive an email with the kindness challenges for the next 6 Summer Sundays. SIGN UP HERE TO RECEIVE THE EMAIL CHALLENGE!
Wednesday Noon Prayers from the Hills

Tune into our Facebook page at noon on Wednesdays for a brief time (5-15 minutes) devoted to reflection and prayer. Rev. Judy Swahnberg and Rev. Anne Marie Holloway will alternate leading Wednesday noontime prayers throughout the summer months!
Scheduling Events

Calling all parishioners/committees to submit their 2021 and 2022 calendar events, to be put on the church calendar, as we begin to open up and welcome outside groups also.

*NEW* Name Tags

"Office Angels" Needed

Calling all those who want to help in the church office. So many little things are needed to be done to open up after a year in Covid mode. And Susan needs office coverage when going on vacation. Would you like to be an "Office Angel" on call to help out when needed with simple tasks? If so, please contact Susan to be added to a list. Thank you!
