Student Council News:

Holiday Party and More

Student Council has planned some events for the end of the school year. On the last day of school, December 16, students will have a party with snacks, movies, and games.

Those students who are interested can participate in a White Elephant gift exchange. The gifts must cost $10 or less and must be school appropriate.

Students will be celebrating the End of the Semester with a trip to the Main Event, details to follow.

Community Service:

Veteran's Community Project

This year ASOP will be collecting supplies for the Veteran's Community Project.

Built by Veterans for Veterans, VCP Village is a planned tiny home community designed to get homeless Veterans off the street and transition them to permanent housing. In contrast to traditional homeless services, a tiny home provides the Veteran with privacy, a sense of security, and the ability to reintegrate at a comfortable pace. Comprehensive Veteran support services are facilitated through an onsite community center that provides the Veterans with mentoring, case management, counseling, and linkage to other programs and services.

ASOP students will be collecting socks from Novemeber 29 to December 14.

On January 12, ASOP will have a presentation from the Veteran's Community Project. With an additional project to collect hygiene products in February.

Thank you for your support of our community service project.

Halloween Activities!

Students and staff enjoyed this years Halloween Costume Contest and activities. The winning costumes were: Scariest, Mary as Medusa; Silliest, Dean as the Horseman; Most Original, Alina as Azelia the Kelpie.

Everyone enjoyed the Halloween donuts. Liz and her STEAM students had fun launching pumpkins using the trebuchet and catapult that the students made.

Inclement Weather

With winter weather coming, be aware that there might be days when we will not hold classes at ASOP. We will publish information on Facebook and the website, as well as on broadcast media if classes will not be held. However, not coming into school does not mean there will be a traditional snow day. Teachers will post work for the students to do at home on Google Classroom.

If you have any questions please contact Jane or Annie.

Giving Tuesday:

RESPECT Sweatshirts

ASOP participated in Giving Tuesday by distributing RESPECT sweatshirts to the students. The logo on the sweatshirts was designed by Jin Sanner, a 2022 graduate. ASOP was able to give each student a sweatshirt thanks to a generous donation from Denise R, our school career/vocational counselor.

Students can wear these sweatshirts any day, but we ask everyone to wear them on Wednesdays as a sign of our school’s commitment to RESPECT for ourselves and each other.

STEAM Student Activities

In November the STEAM students built and tested their egg cars and learned why crumple zones and seatbelts are important. Congratulations to Ali and Jackson for designing a car that protected their egg the best!

Art Projects

Students have the opportunity to express their artistic talents and visions in art classes. Here a student works on a set of portraits.
