From the Rector
Dear Friends,
What Holy days these are! Good Friday is intense. The shock and horror and pain and grief is hard to think about. And yet, Jesus told his disciples to remember him - “Do this to remember me.” But I don’t think he meant for us to be selective about when to remember him. I think the intent was to always remember him. There are so many other ways to remember him – make a list, you’ll see. Entering into the Triduum, the three days leading up to Jesus’ resurrection, is a special opportunity to remember Jesus. We remember the last night in the upper room (Maundy Thursday) where Jesus ate his last meal and told them about the new covenant. We remember the trial, torture, and condemnation that led to Jesus’ crucifixion (Good Friday) and the day Jesus visits with with the dead while in the tomb (Holy Saturday), culminating in the The Great Vigil of Easter that begins with the lighting of a new fire and ends with the celebration of Holy Eucharist.
The Triduum is packed with remembrance. I hope that you will join me in remembering all of it, the good, the bad, the ugly, and joy.
Easter blessings,
Karen+

Easter Sunday Worship & RSVP
There will be two services this Sunday – the first at 10:30am and the second at 12:30pm hosted by St. Stephen’s (at St. Stephen’s). As for previous services hosted by St. John’s, you must register to attend either one, and there are only 40 spaces in each.
If you are participating in the service as a lector or Eucharistic Minister, you are guaranteed a seat. As of today, those spots are filled for the 10:30 service, but we do need people to assist with the 12:30 service.
Just as with the joint Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday services at St. John’s, I am hoping that we can have a balance of worship leaders from both churches at St. Stephen’s!
The link to reserve a seat will be activated at 5:30pm today.
The service will be recorded and posted on our website for later viewing.
***As you know, sometimes there is a glitch with the website link for the service. If you do not see the service, please let Rev. Karen or Robert know so that we can work on fixing the problem.!****

RealEpiscopal, El Camino Real’s newest website, is live and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you! After years of refinements to previous designs, the website has been completely remade from scratch, simplifying its structure and making it more accessible to leaders, clergy, and parishioners. Check it out!

Poem from the Garden
I spent the week repainting the church sign;
it's the same colors, shape, and text as it
was when last repainted in early 2001 or 2.
It looks best when approached at 35mpg
along Santa Teresa Blvd; draw closer,
climb all over it, and you can see the
shape of the well-loved wood, the curves
of my brushstrokes, the places where
the wind whipped the red of the cross
against the paper white field, or where I
pressed the flat edge of the sponge brush
a little too tightly to the wood. It's a work in
progress, the plants below it imperfect and
growing, just like the community it names.

NEEDING PRAYER SUPPORT?
Prayer is one of those things we often think about, might feel inadequate about, believe in but might be unsure how to proceed. How we pray is sometimes unique to each of us. The Church provides help in many ways. If you find yourself in need, of any kind (emotional, physical, spiritual, guidance, etc) consider how St. Stephen's can support you:
* there is a prayer chain of committed pray-ers (who maintain confidentiality).
* tell people about your answers to prayer! and the miracles you witness, or how prayer changes YOU.
Please submit prayer requests to Rev. Karen.
