FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL
Just a friendly reminder to all parents and students that the first day of academic classes is Wednesday, August 11. We can’t wait to see you all back in the classroom!

Please note that during the first week of school, there will be NO conservatory classes. On Wednesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 12, dismissal will occur at 2:25 p.m. for returning students and at 3:30 p.m. for new students, due to Conservatory Buddy Activities. Please be mindful of this when arranging carpools. On Friday, August 13, all students will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m., but are then invited to the Funky Fresh Festival along with their families. Please see the message below for more details.

Conservatory instruction will begin on Monday, August 16.
WELCOME WEEK ACTIVITIES
We are so excited to welcome all students back to school for in-person instruction next week! As we celebrate this return to campus, as well as OCSA’s 35th anniversary season, we are pleased to announce our Welcome Week activities, which will take place during the first week of classes on Wednesday, August 11 - Friday, August 13. This year we are throwing it back to the ‘80s to celebrate the era when OCSA was founded. We can’t wait for our students and their families to join us for this totally tubular, multi-day event!

Please click here to view the schedule of events for new students, or click here to view the schedule for returning students.

All students and their families are invited to a big OCSA bash on Friday, August 13! Our Funky Fresh Festival will take place from 2:30-4 p.m. and will feature carnival-style games, food trucks, music, and a dunk tank on 10th Street. Meanwhile, parents/guardians can mix and mingle with school administration and other OCSA families at a Parent Social at The Callero Family Foundation Plaza (DMS Quad).

We hope to see you there!
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Please be reminded that, as we begin the 2021-2022 school year, masks will not be required in OUTDOOR settings, but will be required while INSIDE school buildings for all students, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status. COVID-19 health requirements are set by state and county health organizations such as the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and public charter schools like OCSA are required to follow these requirements in order to operate in-person instruction.

By requiring masking indoors, the CDPH was able to modify the physical distancing requirements to facilitate a return to full in-person instruction. Additionally, masking indoors greatly reduces quarantine restrictions for anyone who may be exposed to COVID-19 as long as they remain asymptomatic, reducing any potential interruptions to in-person instruction. The CDPH has stated that it will reassess conditions and determine whether to change masking guidelines by Monday, November 1.

Furthermore, all information about OCSA’s processes for tracking and reporting any positive cases of COVID-19 and important health and safety resources will be available on our COVID-19 Dashboard, which is currently in the process of being updated prior to the start of the school year. Please stay tuned.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to monitor and adjust to the most recent guidelines.
