Each month we thank an individual, business and/or organization who supports our efforts, this month we would like to extend an extra thank you to our longtime volunteer, Phyllis Foley!
Throughout the years she has had a huge presence in the after-school members gardening program. This past summer, she also joined us every Friday with an amazing project for the campers who participated in our summer camp program. Phyllis has made our outdoor garden and indoor garden tower flourish this past year! We have had an abundance of vegetables, knowledge of and most importantly, her presence. Phyllis is a member of the Green Leaf Garden Club and with them, she can provide some of the materials needed to create the amazing garden related projects both for the free after-school program along with summer camp. Phyllis has over 35 volunteer hours all related to gardening but in so many different aspects!
Last year at the MYC Thanksgiving Dinner for our members, she and a few others had a table set up where the children used seeds to create and decorate cards, she pickled cucumbers over the summer, taught the kiddos how to plant vegetables, carved very large pumpkins and so much more! We are truly blessed to have Phyllis as a part of our MYC family. Her smile, funny stories and sense of a humor make her visits all that more awaited! We cannot wait to see what garden crafts and planting she has planned for this upcoming school year, with the help from some of her friends and members of the Green Leaf Garden Club. You are truly appreciated, thank you, Phyllis!
