CHAMBER ALLIANCE LETTER TO LEGISLATURE
In response to the Governor’s proposed budget, the NJ Chamber Alliance sent a letter to our State Legislature outlining ways that the budget can be more helpful to economic recovery. 

DISCOUNTED PPE AVAILABLE
NJ-based small businesses and organizations under 100 employees are eligible to apply for an additional 65% discount on PPE products in addition to the 10% discount available to all businesses and nonprofits. Businesses and organizations that were already approved for the 65% discount in November and December do not need to reapply.

NEW JERSEY VACCINE UPDATE
More than 2.3 million vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey and more than 1.5 million individuals have received at least one dose. The State is in the process of receiving and distributing its first shipments of Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

Small Business Lease Assistance Grant Program Expanded

An additional $5 million has been allocated to the Small Business Lease Emergency Assistance Grant Program (SBL-EAGP), which allows businesses in 64 legislatively designated municipalities to apply for grants of up to $10,000 for lease costs. The program, which has already allocated $10 million to roughly 1,000 businesses, assists small business owners impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Is Seeing Believing? A Look Into Deep Fakes.

Deepfakes are images, videos, or audio recordings that have been synthetically produced by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. Deepfakes can be used to spread disinformation and facilitate the distribution of malware and other cybersecurity threats. Threat actors could send emails claiming to have access to deepfakes and convincing them to click on malicious attachments, programs, or links. Emails or social media posts could also include deepfakes of well-known figures, including celebrities, politicians, or CEOs, and attempt to extract personal and/or financial information. Furthermore, deepfakes can also be used to extort individuals.
