Tuesdays | Drop-In Discussion
Drop-In Discussions are virtual! We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link, or click the Zoom meeting link in this blurb title!

- This Week: Pretty Little Lies
In the wake of the Christmas holidays, what are some of the religious, cultural, theological and traditional "lies" that bother you? Are they Biblical mistranslations or cultural manipulations? In this new era of truth telling, what "lies" do you see getting a face lift? How could you revise a "truer" celebration? Email Rev. Michelle at edu@uuroc.org if you have ideas for our discussion, or topics you would like to know the "true" story behind.

- Next Week: In Defense of Honest Abe
Starting soon after his death, Abraham Lincoln was regarded as the greatest American, not just by his fellow Americans, but by the world. But now there are those who seek to redefine him as a garden-variety racist. His statue has been toppled, along with those of Confederate generals. Phil Ebersole will set the record straight and present Lincoln in historical context.

Wednesdays | Midweek Meditation
Weekly Midweek Meditation sessions are back up each Wednesday at 11:30am! Look on the First Universalist homepage for details and a link!

A Message from the COVID Task Force
We thank everyone who participated in our listening session. We will be following NYS and U of R models for determining when we might be together. We will recommend gathering again when there have been 3 weeks of reduced cases reported by the Monroe County Dept. of Public Health. When we are back in our building, COVID will still be with us. Our protocols of mask wearing and social distancing will still be in place. We thank you for your patience and support. If you have questions/comments, please drop us an email or call us. We want to hear from you! covid@uuroc.org

Book Group Correction & Discussion
Our current book to read and discuss at the next meeting, whenever that is, is "The Night Watchman". Keep an eye out for updates on our next meeting date!

SGM Openings: Opportunities for Connection
Are you feeling disconnected? Small Group Ministry is designed to foster connection and caring, spiritual growth and development, and to strengthen the fabric of our church community by exploring various topics. Each group is led by a trained facilitator and will meet via Zoom through the winter.

Three of our Small Group Ministry groups have openings for new members starting immediately!
  • Every other Monday at 1pm
  • 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 7pm
  • Every other Thursday at 7pm

Interested in joining? Take a look at the description on our website uuroc.org, complete the survey regarding your interest and availability, OR email Rev. Michelle at SGM@uuroc.org.

A Note from your COVID Task Force
One element of the CDC’s recommendations to control the spread of COVID 19 is for individuals who have symptoms or have been in contact with someone with COVID to use self administered antigen tests. Covidtests.gov is a simple, accessible website for obtaining test kits free of charge. Check it out!
Joys & Sorrows
Please send your Joys and Sorrows to be read at our Sunday Worship service to JoysandSorrows@uuroc.org.

Note: When you email a joy or sorrow to us, you are giving us permission to read it aloud at our Sunday service and possibly publish it in this weekly email. Thank you!
