Ministry of Environment Review
The Ministry of Environment (the ministry) has initiated a review of The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010 (the Act). The Act provides a framework for the management and protection of the environment in Saskatchewan. It establishes provisions for air quality, waste management, pollution prevention, and enforcement measures.

The ministry is seeking input and suggestions on improving the Act and intends to identify and address critical gaps within the legislation.

The ministry is committed to engaging with Indigenous communities and stakeholders throughout the legislative review. Currently in phase one of the engagement – they have drafted a discussion paper to provide background information on the Act, outline key areas under consideration, and provide questions for feedback.

Your views on the amendments to the Act are important. The ministry invites your feedback by August 25, 2023. The discussion paper can be found on the Government of Saskatchewan’s Public Engagement webpage.

ESG for Associations - Research Survey
The Canadian Standards Association Group released a guidance document in February 2023 to help associations understand and meet the needs of their members regarding sustainability.

Trace Associates Inc., in partnership with multiple associations, including SEIMA, is conducting research to help associations better understand the needs of their members and to provide a record of current participation by members in sustainability programs.

SEIMA is participating in the research, and we encourage all our members to complete the following 2-minute, multiple choice survey. Your opinions are valued so that we may serve you better.

SEIMA Speaker Series: Call for Abstracts
The Saskatchewan Environmental Industry and Managers Association (SEIMA) is creating a Speaker Series. We are looking to schedule regular lunch and learn sessions with more opportunities to network.
Have a topic you think would be interesting to your fellow members? We are looking for abstracts.

The SEIMA Membership year runs May 1 - April 30 annually.

In order to renew, simply log into your membership account and select Renew Today. While logged in, primary corporate members are able to add and delete employee accounts. If you need any assistance with accessing your account, please contact the SEIMA office.
