In Memoriam: Tom Deland
On Feb. 1, retired Broomfield Chief of Police Tom Deland passed away unexpectedly. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Broomfield. A visitation and viewing will follow from 7 - 9 p.m. A funeral mass for Retired Chief Deland will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11 at Nativity of Our Lord, followed by a celebration of life at the Chateaux at Fox Meadows in Broomfield. Chief Deland will be laid to rest at the Louisville Cemetery in a private ceremony for his family on Saturday. 
COVID-19 Update and Vaccines

COVID-19 Vaccines: Did you know in Colorado, vaccinated people with a booster are 24 times less likely to be hospitalized for COVID-19, and 64 times less likely to die from COVID-19 compared to people who are unvaccinated? The benefit is clear - make sure you and your eligible friends and family are up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines!
Marijuana Licenses in Broomfield
The next steps in issuing Broomfield’s first three retail marijuana licenses are coming up! What do you need to know?
  • A list of unique business applications being considered by the selection committee will be available Feb. 1
  • A lottery for the merit-qualified applicants will be held on Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. Residents can watch at Broomfield.org/Live, or on Channel 8. 
  • Businesses who receive licenses through the lottery will complete additional state and local requirements.
Save Time, Do it Online!
New online services are now available at Broomfield.org/FindMyService:
  • Recorded documents (deed of trust, warranty deed) can now be ordered and paid for online.
  • Marriage license applications can be completed and paid for online and picked-up in person with both parties present. 
  • Fraud Guard is a free online service to protect Broomfield residents from property fraud. Sign up to receive alerts when documents are recorded using your name. 
Bilingual Poetry Workshop and Performance
Alejandro Jimenez is a performance poet and educator whose work centers around cultural identity, immigrant narratives, masculinity, memory, and the intersections of them all. This TEDx speaker and Emmy-nominated poet will lead a writing workshop at the library followed by a performance in the Auditorium on Feb. 17. Drop in for either program or both!
