the Gift ... more than we had hoped
Coming soon to your mailbox…
Each Fall your Wesley Memorial family Enters a season of intentional spiritual reflection, renewal and response. During the month of October we consider how God is calling each of us to serve, grow and gift during the 2023 ministry year ahead.
To help you in that reflection, renewal and response, we are sending you some resources to use. Our theme this year is “the gift… more than we had hoped” based on II Corinthians 8:1-15. We ask that you use the brochure as a resource in your devotional time as you think and pray about God‘s gift to you, your gift to God and the gift you share with others.
Along with the brochure you will have two response forms to complete as God lead you to serve, grow and give. You may also complete the forms online. Hardcopy forms may be mailed, brought to the church office or put in the offering plate at any worship service. Please return both response forms by October 30 so they can be included in our celebration Sunday consecration service.
Blessings,
Pastor Ken

Attention all Parents and Grandparents:
All Saints Day is November 6. Last year we expanded how we celebrate All Saints Day at Wesley Memorial. We always have recognized our loved ones whose lives have returned to God since last all Saints Day. Last year we began to
recognize those whose lives have fresh come from God (born since last All Saints Day, November 7, 2021). We are asking our Wesley Memorial Member families who have had a child born since last All Saints Day to please let Tish know: tschultheiss@wesleymemorial.org with their full name and a picture by November 1. We would like to include them in the
All Saints Day bulletin insert.

Bring your kids to Sunday Funday each week at 9:45 a.m.
We are praising God that the Children’s Ministry nursery is now open for children ages 0-2. The nursery is located in room A-213, the first room on the left in the elementary hall. This puts the nursery on the same hallway as all the other Sunday School classrooms.

It’s A Happy fall “Yall” in the Wesley Memorial School!
WMS Families Annual Gift Campaign
Fundraising is very important because it supplements our tuition income that supports the yearly operational budget. Over the years we realized that “selling” items can be a challenge for families. Over the last few years, our annual gift campaign has been a great success due to the generosity and support from our families and our community.
Did you know?
-
The WMS Rainbow Scholarship Fund supports children and families every year with tuition assistance. We have had over $25,000 in requests this year. If not for this Gift these children would miss out on the WMS Program.
-
Every year our teachers have a “wish list” to refresh and update their classroom furnishings as well as new curriculum and developmental resources. $1500
-
The colorful classroom learning rugs $450.
-
New mulch for our playgrounds cost $6,500.
-
New sand in the sandboxes cost $400.
-
Our Security Officer is here every day 8:30-1:15. $18,000
-
Teacher Hospitality, Special Events and Programing. $2,500
To help with these expenses and more, we initiated the WMS Gift Campaign. Very simply this campaign consists of inviting each WMS family (parents, grandparents, and others) the opportunity to give monetarily. Funds are tax deductible, and ALL the contributions will be used for operating expenses and the Rainbow Scholarship Fund.
2 Corinthians 9:7
“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or
in response to pressure, “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

Our Wesley Memorial partnership with Fairview School has flourished for almost 20 years investing in students and changing lives. Our church has been instrumental in the following ways; backpack food ministry, tutoring, breakfast buddies, open houses and supporting teachers and school staff.
This year we are looking for ways to reenergize our commitment and our service to Fairview school. You will be hearing more about these opportunities in the coming weeks.
Here are some you might consider:
Reading volunteers – weekly commitment
Math Tutors – weekly commitment
School Breakfast Buddy Program – weekly commitment
Backpack Food Bags – supplemental food for extended holidays weekends
Hosting a quarterly staff appreciation breakfast
As you have an interest in or learning about being a part of this vital ministry please email Pam Greene, Communities in Schools, at greenep2@gcnc.com or call Cynthia Reddick at 336-884-2204.
