OCBC SECURES LEGISLATIVE VICTORIES, WITH WORK LEFT TO DO:
OCBC is hard at work championing pro-business bills and stopping initiatives harmful to the economy. There’s still a long way to go this session, but business was effective at killing many bad bills (check out how many CalChamber Job Killers were halted this year). Below are major bills OCBC and the statewide business community defeated:

  • SB 12 threatened homebuilders’ ability to add needed housing on vast swaths of land statewide. OCBC’s vocal opposition was key to defeating this anti-housing legislation.
  • AB 71 would have imposed an unnecessary $2.4B tax increase on businesses to create a new homelessness fund, despite the state budget surplus.
  • SB 213 targeted healthcare employers with astronomical workers compensation costs unnecessarily.
  • AB 95AB 995AB 1119, and AB 1192 each would have placed onerous mandates on employers, from expanding leave to reporting wage and hour data.
