Add electric vehicle charging to your business with help from Ameren
Electric vehicle (EV) adoption is on the rise nationwide, and Ameren Missouri’s Charge Ahead program has provided $1 million in incentives since the program began to help local businesses and public facilities make EV charging more widely available for drivers. Another $5 million is still available, but businesses and communities only have until the end of 2022 to partner with Ameren Missouri and take advantage of these financial incentives.

Missouri Chamber
OSHA suspends implementation of vaccine/testing mandate

In a statement on its website, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has announced that it is suspending implementation of a controversial vaccine mandate.

The pending mandate by the Biden administration would apply to private employers with 100 or more employees and require either vaccination or masking and weekly testing by January 4, 2022.

While a federal appeals court has halted OSHA's work on the mandate as the case moves through the judicial system, it is unclear if the deadlines for employers to comply will be modified in the event that the courts rule in favor of the mandate’s implementation.

Thus it's important for employers to continue to work to understand the mandate and plan for potential implementation.

The Missouri Chamber is speaking out against this onerous mandate and has filed an official public comment objecting to this government overreach.

We will closely monitor this issue and keep members informed of further updates. With the issue still alive, we strongly encourage our members to make their voice heard on this issue by submitting a public comment.
Submit a public comment on the federal vaccine/testing mandate

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has suspended implementation of the federal vaccine mandate as a challenge to the mandate is litigated. With the issue still alive, we strongly encourage our members to make their voice heard on this issue by submitting a public comment.
We oppose "Build Back Better"

The Missouri Chamber is speaking out against a multi-trillion dollar reconciliation bill that was recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives.

In a letter to legislators on Capitol Hill, the Missouri Chamber and a coalition of business groups warned that this expensive bill would raise inflationary pressures, saddle job creators with higher taxes and stop our economic growth in its tracks.

“As we recover from the economic shock of the COVID pandemic, businesses across the nation face significant headwinds, including a workeforce shortage crisis, massive supply chain disruptions, and the highest inflation in more than a generation,” the letter reads. “We need Congress focused on helping address these problems. Unfortunately, the so-called ‘Build Back Better’ reconciliation bill that is currently under consideration would add to rather than reduce the challenges confronting America’s employers.”
What federal infrastructure
investment means for Missouri

Last week the federal government passed a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill that includes $550 billion in new infrastructure spending. As a part of the package, Missouri will receive $6.5 billion for federal highways programs.

Missouri was able to pull down the full amount of federal dollars available thanks to the passage of SB 262 last session which modestly increased the motor fuel tax and provided an additional $500 million annually for transportation.

Missouri will also receive $484 million to repair and replace bridges, $674 million for public transit, and $246 million for improvements to the state’s airports.

Missouri will also receive more than $100 million to improve broadband internet across the state. The bill also allocates money for the creation of a grant program for state and local governments to enhance cybersecurity protections.
Business of the Month
We are celebrating Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative as our Business of the Month! 🎉
Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative (PCEC) is a community led, community focused electric cooperative serving more than 25,000 active services and 3,000 miles of energized line in the Kansas City Northland. PCEC was established in 1938 and today is among the fastest-growing cooperatives in the state of Missouri.

Not only does PCEC support and sponsor activities and events in the communities they serve, but their employees are out in the community educating people, teaching children, and supporting nonprofits.

PCEC Linemen work hard in adverse conditions both here and abroad, making several trips to help people in need. They have traveled to third world communities to bring electricity to people who had none. And this year, in Louisiana, helped with severe weather clean-up and restored electrical service.

This innovative company gives its members an immediate choice to support 100% renewable power and offset their carbon footprint. Between Platte-Clay’s community solar and GreenPower programs, members have multiple ways to choose what energy sources are associated with their individual usage.

We are grateful for the remarkable support PCEC provides to the Chamber and the entire Kearney community.
