NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AT NORTHWOOD PARK
On Tuesday, August 3rd at 6PM, I will be hosting a community National Night Out event at Northwood Park. After more than a year of limited social interaction, I'm very excited to be joining all of you for a night of family fun with games, activities and a free Ice Cream Social! Come out and meet members of the Fire Department along with their advanced HAZMAT response vehicle, the San Jose Police Department, and many of your neighbors from across our wonderful district.
I want to create some new traditions here in District 4 and this National Night Out event at Northwood Park will be the first of what I hope to be many events I'll be hosting in the future. Part of the goal is to bring all of us closer by helping to establish stronger relationships with the City staff and services as well as with those responsible for our public safety. A closer community is a safer community and I want us all to work toward that together.
Neighborhoods across our city will be joining over 38 million people and 16 thousand communities in celebrating National Night Out, and you can register here if you're interested in hosting one in your neighborhood. In future years, I hope to support many National Night Out events throughout the district so please reach out to my office if you'd like some assistance in organizing or promoting. We can also assist with resources as well. Let's work together to build a more cohesive, safer community.
Sincerely,

WILDFIRE PREPAREDNESS TOWNHALL
Every year, wildfires burn millions of acres and thousands of structures in the United States. California had one of the worst fire seasons on record last year, with parts of District 4 forced to evacuate during the SCU Lightning Complex fire. Wildfire season has already affected some parts of the state this month. As we are especially vulnerable here in California, we will need to be vigilant and prepare early.
Please join my office at a special Wildfire Preparedness Townhall hosted by Assemblymember Alex Lee (Assembly District 25), CAL Fire’s Santa Clara Unit, and the California Insurance Commissioner’s Office for a townhall about wildfire preparedness on Monday, July 26 at 2:00 pm. Attendees will receive updates from CAL Fire’s Santa Clara Unit on their efforts to combat wildfires and receive resources that are available from the California Insurance Commissioner’s Office.
