National Junior
Honor Society
The FLEC National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) chapter was established in 2012. The NJHS focuses on five qualities (pillars): Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character and Citizenship. Students are invited to apply for membership if they have earned an average of 94.5% or higher in their core classes for two consecutive school years, starting in 6th grade.
Induction Ceremony
On Monday, March 1st, the FLEC National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) held its annual Induction Ceremony. During this year’s Virtual Induction Ceremony, 14 students from 7th grade and 4 students from 8th grade were inducted into our NJHS Chapter. They joined the 18 returning 8th grade members from last school year. During the induction, the new inductees received a certificate of membership. The current 8th grade members received a medal for their service this year, which they may wear at graduation. The new 8th grade inductees received honor cords, which they too will be able to wear at graduation.

Our guest speaker was Mrs. Sonia Hernandez, Robotics and 8th Grade Bible Teacher. She reviewed the pillars of Character, Service, and Leadership with an acrostic message. Her speech was well received, and we thank her for her challenge and words of encouragement
Student Features
Why NJHS?
"I have learned diligence, leadership, and many other unique things. NJHS teaches you many skills, and helps you actually get things done. Many people go through the stage of a project when they realize “this is too hard,” but in NJHS, we learned to not just think, to do."
- Brayden B., 8th grade
"I’ve learned that it takes a lot of time and patience when trying to get things accomplished. You can’t rush things. I’d recommend being in NJHS because you are a role model for everyone in the school and get a lot of privileges as a member of this group."
- Keyla B., 8th grade
"I’ve learned how to better manage my time as a student. Being in sports, keeping good grades, and being a member all at once has shown me that it is possible to get things done. Adding to that, with other members alongside me, it’s led me to strive to become a better person overall. I would recommend becoming a member because you are able to surround yourself with a group of goal-seeking people like you. Having fun and providing for your school are also additional benefits."
- Sierra D., 8th grade
What are you looking forward to?
"Now that I am officially a part of the FLEC NJHS Chapter, I am looking forward to participating in many different events as well as charity activities that involve helping and making the world a better place. I would also like to one day earn a position of leadership within the Chapter so that I may better serve my fellow members and community."
- Celeste H., 7th grade
"I am looking forward to meeting new people and making new experiences with what we are going to do. I am also excited to live the fullest of sharing what I am capable of doing and why I joined NJHS in the first place."
- Andrew A., 7th grade
"I am looking forward to so much! Hopefully getting to be a chairwoman or president! I can’t wait to volunteer and learn how to be a great leader. I can’t wait to help make the school different than how I left it and help lead in school!"
- Mikaela B., 7th grade
NJHS Talent Show
The NJHS Group Service Projects Committee has been diligently working to have a Talent Show this school year. They will lead in the planning, organizing, and hosting the Talent Show, which this year will be held virtually. We are looking forward to the videos that will be submitted by our talented students.
