Budget Study Session #3, Planning for Next Year:
The board held its third study session in an effort to increase understanding of the district budget and address budget concerns. Rob Scheib, Assistant Superintendent of Business, presented on a variety of budget topics as they related to the district’s overall budget throughout the past several years. Scheib also provided answers to questions from the previous two budget study sessions. Wednesday's study session focused on the following topics:

  • specific salary package information, 5-year lookback
  • “new positions” and cost information, 5-year lookback
  • building student enrollments,10-year lookback
  • certified positions by building, 5-year lookback
  • staffing formula unit adjustment needed for next year

Additionally, Scheib shared a summary of the measures and staffing changes that will be implemented to prepare for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. The majority of those reductions will be achieved by reducing staff through attrition with no cuts planned for current staff. More details can be viewed by reviewing the full presentation. (click here)

COVID Update:
Dr. Allison Anderson-Harder, Superintendent, reviewed current county COVID metrics that revealed only slight changes from previous weeks. Currently, the district plans for all students to be on-sight when they return from spring break on March 29th unless they have previously chosen to learn remotely. Teachers and staff are excited for the return of students and are looking forward to seeing them on a daily basis. Harder also shared that learning plans for the 2021-2022 school year are being made to include all students being on-sight every day. Remote learning will end this year and the district is not making plans for a virtual learning environment.
