Step Up for Cancer Research
We are celebrating summer with our Steps to Stop Cancer Summer 5k!

  • Fundraise and grow our community by asking your friends and family to either donate to support you or sign up and complete a 5k with you.

  • Join our Virtual Community and share your race preparations, fundraising efforts, and how cancer has impacted your life.

  • Complete your 5k the week of July 5-12, 2021, any way you choose, all at your own pace! Our customized fundraising pages will let you track your progress and share your accomplishments with your supporters. You can adjust your activity to anything you like and your goal to be more than 5 kilometers if you choose, and you can integrate your page with the popular running and biking app Strava!
Proceeds from this years' event support CARES and our ongoing melanoma immunotherapy research study at Massachusetts General Hospital. Exposure to sunlight or artificial sunlight and a history of blistering sunburns can increase your risk of melanoma, so remember to apply your sunscreen before you set off to complete your 5k!
Cancer Journey - Amanda Hunt
“My name is Amanda and I’m currently undergoing immunotherapy to treat stage IV melanoma. I’m a wife, mom, an attorney on hiatus, and under the age of 40. Having grown up in Florida and having fair skin, I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with the sun. I’d had many sunburns by the time I was a teenager, and began using tanning beds at the age of 19. The uneducated decision to use tanning beds continued on/off into my early 30’s...
...To this day, a primary skin melanoma has not been located on my body, which is rare. The absence of a skin primary, which is usually how a diagnosis occurs, is how melanoma went undetected until I was already stage IV. My 1 year cancer-versary is approaching in June and I’m believing for scans that will show I’m cancer free!”
Spreading Encouragement
Our founder Scott Hamilton is often described as the most positive person in the room, and we're proud to partner with EncourageX to share Scott's words of encouragement!

EncourageX is a new encouragement platform designed to help people be there for each other in a personal, authentic, and consistent way. Using technology and human insight, EncourageX provides curated ideas and tools to deliver encouragement to you or those you care about.

Proceeds from subscriptions and sponsorships of the Scott Hamilton CARES Collection will benefit CARES and fund critical cancer research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient.
