If you watched Pastor Daniel’s devotional this week, you saw he really doesn’t like Christmas to go up before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately for him, I am the complete opposite! Sure, my porch stays decorated for Thanksgiving all of November, but I’ve slowly been decorating the inside of our house since the first. I may have been listening to Christmas music for a month now… I like to add garland to my mantle and banister over time, make beautiful bows from velvet ribbon, add greenery here and there, and look through the sweet Christmas crafts from the kid’s preschool days. The grand finale is decorating our tree once we return home from Thanksgiving – it really makes it feel that Christmas is here. There is something about the building of Christmas that prepares my heart and mind for the season. It reminds me of the anticipation we have in celebrating the birth of Jesus, the long-awaited Messiah. Plus, it just brings me a lot of joy.
Now that Christmastime is officially here, we have lots of fun events for families to help celebrate the season. This Saturday we have Carols Around the Bonfire at 6:30 PM – join us for carols, hot chocolate, and a hayride! Candy Churches continue the fun this Sunday at 3:30 PM in the gym – all are welcome to decorate their church with more candy and treats than you can imagine! Lastly, we are so excited to have Breakfast with Santa this year! Santa Ric and Mrs. Claus will be here Saturday, December 11th from 9-11 AM. The gym will be our Advent Workshop where kids can make lots of crafts for their tree and home, Mrs. Claus will help the kids make reindeer food, and each family will get special time with Santa for pictures and wishes! We will also have coffee, juice, and a grab-and-go breakfast. Spots are limited, so please sign-up HERE. We know this will make for a sweet, memory-filled morning!!
Whether your home has been decorated for a month, or these events are what kick-off the Christmas spirit for you, I pray this month is filled with expectant hope and joy beyond measure.
Peace,
Jean Irving
Director of Children's Ministry
at First Methodist Conroe

Christmas at FMC
Invite a friend or neighbor to celebrate Christmas at FMC! We'll have various events for all ages! Also, join us for Sunday worship as we consider the cinematic reason for the season! From George Bailey to Buddy the Elf; Clark Griswold to the Grinch; Charlie Brown to Kevin McAllister; these movies are the stories of the season that, seen through the lens of the Gospel, have much to teach us about faith, life and the true meaning of Christmas.

Live Like Jesus
When Jesus calls his disciples he says, “Come, follow me.” He invites them to walk with Him, listen to Him, learn from Him and live like Him. He calls us to do the same. This year, let us live like Jesus, love like Jesus, serve like Jesus and give like Jesus.
