If you watched Pastor Daniel’s devotional this week, you saw he really doesn’t like Christmas to go up before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately for him, I am the complete opposite! Sure, my porch stays decorated for Thanksgiving all of November, but I’ve slowly been decorating the inside of our house since the first. I may have been listening to Christmas music for a month now… I like to add garland to my mantle and banister over time, make beautiful bows from velvet ribbon, add greenery here and there, and look through the sweet Christmas crafts from the kid’s preschool days. The grand finale is decorating our tree once we return home from Thanksgiving – it really makes it feel that Christmas is here. There is something about the building of Christmas that prepares my heart and mind for the season. It reminds me of the anticipation we have in celebrating the birth of Jesus, the long-awaited Messiah. Plus, it just brings me a lot of joy.

Now that Christmastime is officially here, we have lots of fun events for families to help celebrate the season. This Saturday we have Carols Around the Bonfire at 6:30 PM – join us for carols, hot chocolate, and a hayride! Candy Churches continue the fun this Sunday at 3:30 PM in the gym – all are welcome to decorate their church with more candy and treats than you can imagine! Lastly, we are so excited to have Breakfast with Santa this year! Santa Ric and Mrs. Claus will be here Saturday, December 11th from 9-11 AM. The gym will be our Advent Workshop where kids can make lots of crafts for their tree and home, Mrs. Claus will help the kids make reindeer food, and each family will get special time with Santa for pictures and wishes! We will also have coffee, juice, and a grab-and-go breakfast. Spots are limited, so please sign-up HERE. We know this will make for a sweet, memory-filled morning!!

Whether your home has been decorated for a month, or these events are what kick-off the Christmas spirit for you, I pray this month is filled with expectant hope and joy beyond measure.
