Rachel Todd Scanlon ‘89
Lexington Catholic's Academic Strategies Teacher
The third time is the charm! My first stint at Lexington Catholic was as a student, Class of ‘89. Then, I returned as an English teacher immediately following my college graduation but retired after six years to become a full-time mother to my growing family. After almost ten years, I returned to the classroom as a PreK teacher at Christ the King, and now, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I’m back! What a pleasure it has been to witness not only the physical changes to LCHS over the span of thirty years, but also the growth that has happened in mind, spirit, and body for our students and alumni.
I am thoroughly enjoying my new role within the High Marks Department, teaching Academic Strategies. My students are primarily freshmen who have been identified as having a learning difference or simply need help transitioning smoothly into high school. I focus on fostering study and organizational skills, and I help to support the freshman coursework as well. Needless to say, I have had to relearn a few things… algebraic formulas, meiosis, and Punnett Squares, oh my!
One of my greatest joys has been sharing Lexington Catholic with my children. My husband of 25 years, Scott Scanlon, jokes that it was practically in our wedding vows that our children would attend LCHS. Madeleine ’17, Scott ’19, and Emily ’22 have been blessed with all that LCHS has to offer. They have received an outstanding education, grown in their faith and love of Christ, competed at the highest levels in their chosen sports, and formed friendships that are more like family.
When my parents chose Lexington Catholic for my siblings and me, I do not think they could have predicted that the school would remain such an integral part of our lives. God’s plan is greater than our own and the blessings of the LCHS community remain constant in our lives.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. John 1:17

It’s been a dream come true to have three boys graduate from and play basketball for Lexington Catholic. As much fun as it was to play here, it’s been so much more watching them grow in every way on and off the
court. Lexington Catholic has been and will always be family to all of us. It has been a blast and an unbelievable ride!
In addition to Ben ’21, Luke ’17 and Tanner ’15 were basketball Knights!

What a great year this has been for LC basketball. They are such an exciting team to watch. It’s so enjoyable to see our kids play sports at Catholic. We feel like we were there just yesterday as students ourselves. Our oldest son, Josh, won a state championship in lacrosse his senior year in 2018. Really hoping that Jacob and the basketball team can bring one home this year. Go Knights!

Emma ‘21
Emma has played for LC girls basketball since she was in the 6th grade. Playing on the middle school team helped her form great long-lasting friendships. She played for the freshman team as a 7th and 8th grader. What an awesome opportunity for Emma to be playing for her father who was an assistant coach for some of those years! Emma's high school basketball has come to an end, but we are so excited for the opportunity for Emma to continue playing in college for Mount St. Joseph next year.
Her parents can't wait to see what the future holds for Emma playing in college! Emma's brother, Alex, also played for LC boys' team from 2010-2013.

Olivia ‘23
It is exciting to see my daughter, Olivia, in a Catholic uniform as it brings back fond memories of having the same opportunities of representing the school and the Lexington Catholic community. We are blessed to be around some great families that I was in high school with over 35 years ago. It is enjoyable to watch her become friends with my classmates' children and watch them grow into young adults. Olivia has many fond memories from this basketball season and that is due to her teammates and coaching staff. From going to the movies to gas station trips before games, she has thoroughly enjoyed these girls and coaches and we look forward to making more memories at Lexington Catholic! Go Knights!

|
What is it?
A 24-hour online giving campaign. Starting on Thursday, April 15, 12:00 am-11:59 pm, we are asking students, faculty, staff, alumni, family, and friends across the country to join us in celebrating Lexington Catholic High School’s past, present, and future. You can help by making a gift of any size!
|
|
What is the goal?
The goal for uKnight Day is to raise $20,000. The money raised will assist our families in need, both tuition and basic necessities. We also want to spread the word about our school and why we want to celebrate! There will be quotes from student, faculty, parents, and alumni on all of our social media platforms throughout the day explaining why folks want to celebrate and give back to our school.
|
|
|
Alumni Challenge:
Last year, 40 Alumni participated in uKnight Day. This year, we’re raising the bar because an anonymous alumni donor has raised the stakes! If 50 alumni make a gift to Lexington Catholic on April 15 (between 12:00 am-11:59 pm EST) that anonymous donor will unlock $5,000 for the uKnight Fund.
|
|
How you can help
Make a gift! You can also add your memory/why you give with the hashtag #uKnightLexCath to facebook, Instagram, twitter, etc. on April 15.

As we prepare for uKnight Day at Lexington Catholic on April 15, we are asking for Alumni participation in a couple of ways.
Please share your old photos with us. Dust off those yearbooks and email dclark@lexingtoncatholic.com. Include your name and class year and send by April 5.
These photos will be shared along with other student photos and videos throughout the 24-hours of giving on all LCHS social media platforms.
Participate and encourage others to join us in support of our Alumni Challenge #uKnightlexcath.
Thank you so much.
