A Message from our Executive Director
Dear Friends,

I just want give you a quick update. Later this year, I will be stepping down as the executive director of Clothes To Kids of Denver. It is my intention to move back into the role of development director, the position I held previously and feel passionate about pursuing again.

I am so grateful to the Clothes To Kids family for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible organization since 2014 and to serve as executive director for the past four years. We have certainly grown, and I am proud of our accomplishments and the support of our wonderful volunteers and donors. I am so thankful to our great staff and their commitment to our mission and to the students that we serve. Fun fact - our small group of eight staff members have a combined 49 years of employment with Clothes To Kids!

As we prepare to celebrate the 15th anniversary of our founding, I can’t help but be excited for our next chapter. The service that we provide to our community is invaluable, and the dignified shopping experience that we offer is priceless.

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful support, and I look forward to continuing to be part of this beautiful family. This transition will help me be more available to my own family, including my handsome new grandson Theodore Lenwood Somers (snuggling with me above!).

Love,
Val

P.S. Our board has appointed a search committee to find a new executive director. If you are interested in taking the helm, please contact our board chair, Mary Valenti, at mary@parsons.net.
Let There Be Light!

We are extremely grateful to Jack English from Illumination Systems and to the team from RYCH Electric for working together to install new lighting in our store. All parties involved were kind enough to donate their time, all of the light fixtures and their expertise to upgrade our store lighting.

The new lighting not only looks incredible, but has made our space look and feel even more like an upscale boutique. These improvements have made a major impact on our everyday operations and have truly elevated our customer experience. We can’t thank these two generous companies enough for their incredible contribution!

Sharing the Love

Our friends Ken, Brooke and Jane from the Denver branch of CNA Insurance delivered 388 pairs of new socks and 270 pairs of new underwear from their recent Undie 500. We love working with their team!

We received a wonderful donation of new shoes, clothing and underwear from our long-time nonprofit partner The Urban Angels. They have done so much to support our shoppers over the years!

We are so grateful to our long-time Apparel Partner Garb Inc. for generously donating ten pallets of new clothing. Special thanks to Mario from Hercules Industries for delivering everything to our storage space.

This dedicated volunteer group from Deloitte took on the huge task of sorting and sizing items from the ten pallets of clothing generously donated by Garb (see above). Their detail-oriented and methodical team was absolutely perfect for the job. It takes a village!

Next Day Valet Dry Cleaning just wrapped up their annual back-to-school drive. Each summer since 2013, owners Marsha and Allan Walts have collected donations from their customers and professionally cleaned each piece before delivering everything to our shop. This year they collected more than 1,500 items - all sweet-smelling, sorted and neatly folded!

We hosted an absolutely fabulous youth volunteer group from the National Leadership Academy. They sorted, tagged and organized in our donation center, plus helped move a mountain of boxes and bags. A huge help!

We were blown away by this donation from the University of Denver Athletic Department. They gave a van-load of brand new hats, shirts, sweats, shorts and jackets. Our shoppers have been thrilled to select from such quality items. Kudos to our National Charity League volunteers for helping us sort and organize this massive donation.

Our friend Julie is a sales rep for the sportswear brand Champion. She brought us two bins of some amazing new clothing for our shoppers. They will love it!
