"I will give thanks to you, O LORD,
with all my heart,
for you have heard the words
of my mouth."
~ Psalm 138:1
Sunday's Readings:

First Reading — In a vision Isaiah is called to be a messenger for the LORD of hosts. Isaiah responds, “Send me!” (Isaiah 6:1-2a, 3-8)

Psalm — In the sight of the angels I will sing your praises, Lord (Psalm 138).

Second Reading — Paul reminds us of the gospel he preached through which we are saved, if we believe it (1 Corinthians
15:1-11 [3-8, 11]).

Gospel — Jesus directs Simon to take his boat into deep water for a miraculous catch of fish. Simon and his partners leave all to follow Jesus (Luke 5:1-11).
Theophanies
Sunday’s readings recount three theophanies, or particular manifestations of God’s presence. The prophet Isaiah is caught up in a dramatic scene of heavenly worship, with a royal throne, burning embers, and seraphim singing, “Holy, holy, holy.” Isaiah is overwhelmed. In the responsorial psalm, the assembly adds its own worship to that of the seraphim: “In the sight of the angels, I will sing your praises, Lord” (Psalm 138:1).

Paul reminds the Corinthians of his own experience of a post-Resurrection appearance of the Lord, making him an apostle, but one “born abnormally” (1 Corinthians 15:8), since he had no acquaintance with the earthly Jesus. The first of those who did know the earthly Jesus were surprised by fishing advice from the teacher who had commandeered Simon’s boat, resulting in an extraordinary catch. Although less colorful than those of Isaiah or Paul, this theophany was just as overwhelming.

National Marriage Week
In February, we recognize St. Valentine's Day and honor love all month long. Also in February, the observances of National Marriage Week (February 7-14) and World Marriage Day (Sunday, February 13) are an opportunity to focus on building a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family. Our theme for 2022 is “Called to the Joy of Love.”

Please join Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Marriage & Family Ministry in celebrating marriage and family all year long. Follow this link for Daily Marriage Tips to help you build into your marriage.
Annual Catholic Appeal
The Annual Catholic Appeal begins next weekend—join us in answering the call of "Making all things new...God's promise and our responsibility." Visit annualcatholicappeal.com to make a gift online, or look for donation envelopes in the vestibule at either worship site.

The work supported by the Appeal is more important than ever. Gifts to the Annual Catholic Appeal directly support the necessary work of parishes, Catholic schools and vital ministries throughout the archdiocese.

And please remember that once we reach our Appeal goal, donations are returned to the parish in the form of a rebate. Last year's Appeal rebate was recently received and work has begun to upgrade the sound systems at Queen of the Rosary and St. Julian Eymard. We look forward to building on that work to also make our live-streaming equipment at both worship sites like new again with this year's rebate.
If you have any questions about the Annual Catholic Appeal or the parish rebate, Fr. Dan would be happy to speak with you.

You may follow this link to quickly schedule time to meet with Fr. Dan by phone, Zoom or in person.

Synod: Parish Listening Event
An invitation to be part of the church’s largest consultation in history.

Pope Francis believes that only the entire people of God journeying together can answer the question, “What is the Holy Spirit saying to the church today?”

Parish communities everywhere are organizing conversations to begin this process of listening for the Spirit. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament is organizing our Parish Listening Event on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at St. Julian Eymard between 11am and 2pm. We invite you to be part of this day of prayer and sharing where we attempt to hear the voice of the Spirit.
