Work has resumed on the box culvert after a 2-plus week suspension of activities due to the extreme cold we experienced earlier.

Crews are dealing with frost and snow melt from the recent warmer weather as they continue work on the storm sewer system. Several storm sewer intakes that connect directly to the culvert have been installed, along with new sanitary sewer services.

Next week, installation of retaining walls between Hillside Drive and 24th Street will begin. When conditions permit, water main installation and service replacement on 24th Street will also begin.

About the Project

The O Avenue project stretches from Edgewood Road to 16th Street NW, and includes full roadway reconstruction, sidewalk replacement, sanitary sewer improvements, drainage improvements, utility relocations, water main replacement, and retaining walls. The work is anticipated to take two construction seasons to complete.
