Hummingbird Symbolism
The hummingbird is a symbol of levity, the ascending energy of the divine transcendent and in this way is the symbol of the ultimate alchemist in nature.
The hummingbird represents the awakened consciousness that emerges and provides the nectar of love, compassion, joy, forgiveness and equanimity. As this tiny yet
powerful creature collects the nectar of beautiful flowers, it represents the incredible miracle of life in our world.
The hummingbird as a symbol of collecting the nectar of natures heart to share it with all hearts to end the suffering of all sentient beings. The antidote for suffering is love, compassion, peace and kindness and the nectar of the flowers represent this love and compassion.
Hummingbird Facts:
The hummingbird as a symbol of nature being the ultimate alchemist.
- Eight thousand plants depend upon the pollination of the hummingbird visiting it
or these plants will not exist.
- The hummingbird must eat its body weight every day; it must eat every 15
minutes to survive.
- They can't walk or hop, they must only perch or fly. These little creatures can fly upside down, backwards and defy gravity.
- Their strong heart beat 400 times every minute when resting and 1200 times a
minute when flying.
- Hummingbirds represent the alchemy of nature and how nature has created the
beauty, the power, the joy and the mystery in the world and in ourselves as a
connection with all of life.
