Celebrate Love
February is a special month when we celebrate love. On Valentines Day, we give thanks for the people who usher love into our lives, sharing special gifts that honor them. Ash Wednesday begins the holy season of Lent that gives us a chance to rejoice in love as we foster greater intimacy with our Lord and one another. What we have been through points the way forward in the Following Scriptural Encouragements:
FAITH
"Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see" (Heb.11:1)
HOPE
"And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us" (Romans 5:5)
LOVE
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God"
1 John 4:7
It's time to leave the world of fear, despair and hate.

It was an exciting January welcoming all of our families back to Sunday School! The children have enjoyed their hands-on lessons and discussions about Jesus. As we continue to learn about Jesus and follow in his footsteps every day,
we will also be getting ready for the season of Lent. We will focus on reading Bible stories about Jesus and how he served and loved others. Since Jesus showed the importance of serving and loving everyone, we can continue to spread love and serve others in our everyday lives too.
It has been wonderful to see all of the children back at in-person Sunday School! Sunday School will continue in-person classes at the 9:00 AM mask-mandatory service. All children, parents and teachers attending Sunday School at 9:00 AM will be asked to social distance and wear a mask. The nursery will be available for families attending the 10:00am service. The nursery will have lessons and educational materials available for those families attending the 10:00am service.

Baby Basics of Collier County thanks with gratitude the congregation of the St John’s Episcopal Church for your continued support of our program. Your generous donations over many years have enabled us to not only grow our program but enhance the lives of hundreds of babies in our community. Your church members and the leadership have been a beacon of hope for struggling families and a great enhancement for babies’ lives. The money you donate to us goes directly to the purchase of diapers for our 545 babies in Naples and Bonita. The pandemic has not stopped the determination of our volunteers to get diapers to the babies in need each month. Putting on masks, gloves and getting the diapers ready to give out rain or shine has been the task of over 50 dedicated volunteers. They truly are the heroes of our program.
As we look toward to the future of Baby Basics, we hope to reach out to even more families with a helping hand so that their babies (from birth to three) will have the opportunity to grow and be healthy without the harmful results of not having enough diapers to change as frequently as needed. We are able to do this because of your kindness and generosity.
One Mom recently said, “Please tell the people who give the money that I hope God continues to bless them because they are blessing us.”

“Florida legal document” scams
TALLAHASSEE – An ongoing international email scam aimed at bilking people out of money has resurfaced again using fraudulent Florida court documents. They often appear to come from the Florida Supreme Court. It is part of an ongoing series of similar scams stretching back several years. They appear to come from locations in Florida like Shalimar but may target people elsewhere in the United States or other nations. Many of the intended victims are unfamiliar with Florida law. The current scam has targeted people in Europe, including Spain and Sweden, and claims connections with other nations like Hungary and South Africa. All the documents are falsified to suggest they came from the Florida Supreme Court. Some contained legal terminology not used in Florida, such as calling attorneys “barristers.” They may use other legal words more common in Europe and may cite nonexistent state or federal statutes. Florida’s state courts do not send out binding official legal notices by email. Anyone receiving emails that reference a Florida court document should never pay money without checking further.
Also, IRS, Social Security & Court Jury Duty Clerks NEVER CONTACT YOU BY MAIL OR EMAIL.If you record a Deed, you do not need to buy a copy of it. Your original Deed will be returned from County Recording Dept., your attorney or title company. You do not need to pay $50-$75 (or more) for one.

Ash Wednesday derives its name from the placing of repentance
ashes on the foreheads of participants to either the words
"Repent, and believe in the Gospel" or the dictum "Remember that
you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
The ashes symbolize both death and repentance.

The Fruit of My Womb
For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb… Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.

My husband and I were in Jamaica on vacation, spending time talking with friends one evening when one of them, a medical doctor, began to stare at my neck.
“Don’t you see that you have a goiter?” he said.
“Goiter? What’s a goiter?” I asked. When he explained, I laughed. “I don’t have a goiter. My neck is just fat.”
“No, you have a goiter,” he insisted. Before we left to return to our home in Michigan, our friend gave me some iodine pills and told me that if they didn’t solve the problem, I was to contact my primary physician for testing and additional medication.
When the mass on my neck did not go away, I did consult my doctor. He ordered blood work, but before its results came back, he ordered for me to get radiation treatment at a hospital nearby. Following his instruction, I had the radiation treatment. And then the results of my blood work came back. I was pregnant.
My physician immediately called for my husband and me to come into the office to see him. “We are going to have to terminate this pregnancy because we don’t know how much radiation you took in,” he told us.
“I’m not ready,” I said, but I was shaken. I went home and prayed, “Lord, what should I do?” Immediately the Hail Mary I’d recited as a child came to mind.
“Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.”
“This child is the fruit of my womb,” I thought, “a gift from God. I can’t abort this child.”
When I told my doctor of my decision, he said that if I did not take his medical advice and abort, I had to sign forms legally releasing him and the hospital from any liability.
God’s answer to my prayer was clear and irrefutable. Despite my doctor’s repeated admonitions, I stood firm and carried my child to term. When our son was born, he was 100% healthy. He’s now thirty-six years of age, and he has been a tremendous blessing each and every one of them!
