-ISSUE 032-

September is Workforce Development Month. Our nation’s Workforce Investment System is comprised of local Workforce Development Boards (WDBs) that support the needs of national and local economies by providing a highly skilled workforce supply that matches labor demand. Each September is designated as a time to formally recognize the contributions of workforce professionals and highlight initiatives that support job seekers and employers.

We partner with WDBs states across the country and remain in awe of their diligent work and dedication to help move our nation forward. Join us in celebrating Workforce Development Month as we highlight the good work that we are honored to help produce and market for our workforce partners.

MONTEREY COUNTY WDB

Healthcare is one of the top in-demand industry sectors across the globe. The Monterey County Workforce Development Board’s “Health Cadre” program aims to meet the needs of the local healthcare labor demands. The Health Cadre program provides young adults the ability to get paid while making a difference in their community. They get access to paid internships and training for entry-level positions in the direct patient healthcare industry. PDDG provided the promotional print materials for the program, robust social media campaigns, as well as a dedicated web presence that allowed prospective participants to complete an easy, online application. The first cohort of participants is currently completing the training program and is on their way to graduating with certificates and credentials that will help them take the next step in their careers.

HEART OF TEXAS WDB

When parents feel good about their childcare provider, they are more successful in reaching their education and career goals. The Heart of Texas Workforce Development Board’s Texas Rising Star (TRS) early learning programs are dedicated to quality and meet higher standards than the state's minimum childcare licensing criteria. The TRS Provider certification system offers three levels of certification (Two-Star, Three-Star, and Four-Star) to encourage providers to attain progressively higher certification requirements leading to a Four-Star level. Each month, the Board provides a listing for parents, produced by PDDG, of the TRS-ranked childcare providers in the six-county region.

PDDG has had the sincere honor of partnering with the Heart of Texas Workforce Development Board for more than 15 years. Together, we have collaborated on more than 900 successful projects.

LAKE COUNTY WDB

For nearly two years, we have served as the marketing agency of record for the Lake County Workforce Development Board (LCWDB) and have collaborated with the wonderful workforce development staff on a wide array of deliverables, including branding, creation of a Board-level website, production of outreach and education collateral, social media management, public relations, and more.

In the past few weeks, the Lake County Workforce Development Department and members of the Job Center of Lake County staff have received recognition in several ways, including:

• Ashannti Ross, Lead Project Planer with the Job Center, has been recognized as a Workforce Development Hero by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP).

• The Lake County Board has recognized Lake County Workforce Development, along with Ashannti Ross, for receiving the Workforce Hero recognition from NAWDP.

• Lake County Workforce Development Department has been nominated by the Lake County Coalition to Reduce Recidivism to receive the 2022 Service Provider of the Year Award.

WORKFORCE SCC

Workforce Santa Cruz County joined the PDDG Family in early 2021, and since that time, we have assisted the workforce development team with the creation of a new brand platform and the development and launch of its first-ever virtual career services website.

The new website has expanded greatly over the past year and now includes a robust Business Services microsite, a complete agenda center for the Board and committees, and a publications center, among other online resources. Most recently, we deployed a Latest News information feed, collecting important job seeker and employer-focused news from throughout Santa Cruz County.
