The Whole Family
God our Father, you entrusted your Son to Joseph and Mary, who readily accepted all that came into their lives. They responded with humility and faithfulness to the future you envisioned for them. Help us imitate their fidelity to you and to each other. Favor us with wisdom, goodness, and peace. Strengthen your love within us, within our homes, and within our faith communities so that we may embrace all that comes into our lives and welcome the future you envision for us and for the whole human family. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dear Parishioners:
Thank you for your generous response to our Bust the Deficit Campaign. If you’ve been following, for the past five weeks we’ve been reporting our progress in the bulletin. As of the report appearing in last week’s bulletin, the Campaign has taken in donations totaling $63,984. Most of those donations were targeted toward specific activities (Buildings & Grounds and School Technology), but a significant amount was given to the parish in general. Since three-quarters of parish and school expenses go toward salaries and benefits, future donors might want to direct their offerings to help offset something like health insurance premiums (roughly $13,000 per month) or pension installments (around $13,000 each quarter).

Need a different reason to come to Mass, outside of the becoming one with God
through the Eucharist?! How about ‘Sign-A-Stud’
No, we are not signing Fr. Phil’s vestments!
A parish family donated two 2X4’s (aka studs) that will be used in the building of Kitti’s home. As a way to continue to ‘build’ funds for Habitat and Kitti (pun intended) … for a small donation, parishioners can write a bible verse, sign their name, offer a blessing, or draw a picture. The stud will then be placed inside the Faith Build home during construction. Stop by the tables on your way out of Mass the weekends of January 2/3 and 9/10 to participate! We will continue to follow safe social distancing and offer clean/unused markers to sign, asking that used markers be put in a separate container. Thanks for joining in the Christmas festivities!

Our days in this challenging year of 2020 are quickly coming to an end. This unique moment in our lives provides us with
an opportunity to come closer to Christ.
ALPHA - Back – by popular demand! Alpha will return to the St. John the Baptist and St. Thomas Aquinas parish communities this spring. Alpha is a series of group conversations that explore life, spirituality, and faith through a Christian lens. Through small groups, participants have the opportunity to ask their questions, share ideas, build friendships, and experience the love of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. All are welcome! We will meet on Sunday nights throughout the spring, beginning on February 21. Registration and complete details will be available in mid-January. We look forward to seeing you at Alpha!
One Percent Prayer - Our invitation to you is to spend the first 30 days of 2021 growing in your Catholic discipleship through daily prayer. Through One Percent Prayer, instead of dwelling on what we miss, we’re focusing on Jesus, giving one percent of each day in prayer and completing a simple daily action to grow in love for God and neighbor. One Percent Prayer is simple. Each day, do just two things:
- Spend one percent of your day devoted to personal prayer with scripture (that’s 15 minutes)
- Live out your prayer by doing one concrete action to grow your love for God and neighbor
Bible in a Year - If you’ve struggled to read the Bible, this podcast is for you. Ascension’s Bible in a Year Podcast, hosted by Fr. Mike Schmitz, guides Catholics through the Bible in 365 daily episodes starting January 1, 2021. Each 20-25 minute episode includes: two to three scripture readings a reflection from Fr. Mike Schmitz and guided prayer to help you hear God’s voice in his Word. Tune in and live your daily life through the lens of God’s word!
Sign up at https://bit.ly/3gZR1fm and receive the reading plan for Fr. Mike Schmitz's Bible In A Year podcast, and alert you when the podcast launches.

GRAB 'N GO
Once again SJB and STA prepared a fun December meal in the commercial kitchen at SJB. A total of 200 meals were prepared and 62 of these meals were delivered to the homebound by 4 crews. The remainder of the meals were handed out by volunteers in our parking lot drive-through. SJB students did a beautiful job decorating the brown paper meal bags and providing cheerful greeting cards that were included with the meals.
We are very grateful to have prepared a total of 628 Grab and Go meals in 2020!
We will offer a Grab and Go meal on January, 19th so mark your calendars and keep an eye out for the registration two weeks prior.
