Congress Updates
Reminder, HUPO ReCONNECT 2021 recordings are available on the Gather.Town platform until February 25, 2022. Registered participants can log back into the platform to watch the recordings. In May 2022 the recording will be added to the HUPO Proteomics Knowledge Resource where HUPO members can access the recordings complimentary.
The HUPO 2022 Congress will take place 4-8 December 2022 in beautiful Cancun, Mexico. After two virtual editions, we are thrilled to invite you to join us again in a face-to-face meeting with virtual elements that will enhance participant’s experience and allowanyone from anywhereto join one of the largest international gatherings in the field of proteomics.

The program will offer both exciting education and engaging networking opportunities that we have all missed so much over the last couple of years. In addition to abstract presentations and lectures by world renowned speakers, we will be offering a variety of interactive sessions and networking options. The HUPO World Congress is an excellent opportunity for initiating or strengthening ongoing co-operations and knowledge.

Cancun is recognized throughout the world for its spectacular white sand beaches, it’s fascinating sea in turquoise blue tones, unique natural places, Mayan culture, water activities, typical handicraft markets and exciting nightlife. The wonderful natural attractions such as the majestic mangroves, the lush jungle and the mystic cenotes stand out and provide countless adventure activities. We hope you take some extra time before or after the Congress and take advantage of the many opportunities Cancun and its surroundings have to offer.

We can’t wait to see you again in Cancun in December 2022.
Humans of HUPO
Each month we will highlight a member of HUPO. A diverse group of researchers representing different career stages, disciplines, geographical locations, and ethnicities will be invited to submit a profile for the monthly highlight. This month we are featuring:
Dr. Brian Searle

What is your current position and location?
I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and a member of the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO).

How did you get started in the field of proteomics?
After undergrad, in 2001 I started as a Research Assistant at the Oregon Health and Sciences University under Dr. Srinivasa Nagalla, where I trained under my two mentors, Dr. Ashley McCormack (in mass spectrometry) and Mark Turner (in bioinformatics). Later in 2004, Ashley, Mark, and I started Proteome Software, where we produced the Scaffold software suite for analyzing proteomics data.

Meeting Spotlight
The XIV Annual Congress of the European Proteomic Association and the Proteomic Forum 2022 will take place from 3–7 April 2022 in the beautiful venue 'Kongresshalle am Zoo' in Leipzig, Germany.

The scientific committee prepared an excellent scientific programme including topics such as, but not limited to, “Single Cell Proteomics”, “Computational Proteomics and Big Data/Modelling”, “Clinical Applications” and a look at “Emerging Technologies”. For an overview of all topics take a look at the online programme. Besides exciting scientific lectures you can expect a diverse range of workshops, the opportunity to meet experts in the field of proteomics and an extensive industry exhibition.
