Help us Cross the Finish Line!
It's not too late to get involved with the Explore the Gunpowder Watershed Challenge. At press time, we're only $2,500 away from reaching our event goal! The Challenge is in lieu of our annual fundraiser and all funds raised will enable GVC to preserve land, plant trees, and keeps our local waterways healthy. If you've enjoyed the beauty of the Gunpowder Watershed in 2020, please consider making a donation now so that future generations can also enjoy clean water.
Special thanks to Gregg Peterson, @Nalatheredlab, and Bill Curtis for sharing their #GVCExplore images featured above!

Register for the challenge by creating your own fundraising page and making a $45 (Individual/1 shirt) or $75 (Family/2 shirts) donation. Our amazing Event Committee volunteers will be dropping off t-shirts in Baltimore County.

Share your favorite Gunpowder images on social media with our event hashtag #GVCExplore. You'll be entered into a raffle to win a $50 Visa gift card.

Complete 45 miles of outdoor activities to be entered into our Get Active! Challenge raffle for $100 in gift cards. This is the length of the Gunpowder watershed and a great symbolic goal. Click here to submit your Get Active! Challenge form when you meet your goal.
Happy Retirement, Kim!
Chances are if you've participated in a GVC Tree Maintenance activity you have worked with the impressive Kim Peabody. For the past 8 years, Kim has played an essential role in GVC's reforestation efforts as both a volunteer crew chief and Tree Maintenance Coordinator. Thanks to her dedication, thousands of trees around our watershed have a better chance of survival. Kim also elevated the sustainability of our annual fundraiser by leading the charge to sort plastics and compost-friendly materials.

"Kim has been a fantastic asset to the GVC. Thanks to Kim's deep devotion to the health of our environment and her outstanding leadership, she has helped to ensure the survival of our native trees while engaging and inspiring hundreds of volunteers. She is one of a kind and will be missed greatly!," shared Peg Peggy, GVC Program Director of Education and Restoration.

Thank, you, Kim, for sharing your love of the outdoors and we wish you the best in this new chapter.

The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy dedicates our 2020 native tree and shrub plantings to the heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic: the men and women of our region who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve and protect us, heal our families, produce our food, and teach our children. We honor their contributions to the well-being of the Gunpowder Watershed.
